Looking at old high school photos from the 80's and I came across several photos of parties. This jogged my memory so I shall do a retro review of a "quarters" beer from my past.
Aroma- not much memory of this, I do remember that we made fun of this and the other cheap beers that we played quarters with (Hamm's, Fischer's, Stroh's, Falstaff and PBR Light) for smelling and tasting like the cans they came in.
Appearance- this is a very pale yellow brew.
Taste- the high school kid's dream, very little beer taste but has alcohol in it.
Palate- Very watery with mild carbonation and a semi-dry finish.
Overall- This was not a good beer, but it was invaluable in my development. I miss the fact that Schlitz is gone.

This is a typical light beer. Pale golden yellow body with white head that disappears. Smells like a macro lager. Taste isn't too bad. It has a hint of sweet to it. Its just as good (if not better) than most light lagers and its MUCH cheaper. This is a value beer (less than $10 a case) and it somewhat pays off.

My pop brought this back from Indiana and I decided to give it a go. Poured from a can into a pint glass. Pale yellow color, crystal clear with white head. Very faint smell of corn and a little malt. Very light in the mouth with a lot of carbonation. Not much to say about this beer. It is very light and very watered down. I enjoy the regular Schlitz a lot for a Macro, but this just isn't worth the effort. There is just not enough flavor to bother with it. I give it a good drinkability rating because, well, water is drinkable right? I won't be having this again.

Poured a pale yellow color with very large white puffy head. Smell is on the sweet side with little if any maltiness present. No hops to be found. Taste is very light with litlle taste to be found. Finish is cold and refresing, and a good thirst quencher. Good spacer beer.

Not terrible, not great. Poured out to a weak yellow color with medium carbonation, and a short lived head that was gone as fast as it appeared. Not much noted scent wise, but traces of hops and corn were detected. Flavor was weak as well, mostly watery hops and corn, some herbal notes. Finished smooth and crisp. Not a great light beer, but I have had worse. Worth a try.

Schlitz Light pours a pale straw gold body beneath a full head of bright white foam that drops readily to nothing more than a pock marked surface (where its bubbles come up) and thin collar. Large bubbles stream towards the surface indicating that there's not much body present; and lacing about the glass is non-existant. Some corn-like, sweetish malt greets you in the nose along with a suggestion of hops somewhere in the background. The body is light and its big-bubbled carbonation is surprisingly soft on the tongue, leaving it delicately crisp. The flavor delivers the same corn-like sweet malt that the nose suggests; and as might be expected no hops are discernable. It finishes leaving some stickiness in the mouth, but it's not sweet. Nor is it particularily dry. It just is. Overall, it's an average light American lager that's refreshing but far from exciting. And if anything can be said for it, at least it does have some maltiness to it.

Re-rate-

I gotta remember to check my reviews before buying my hockey beer...samee thoughts...not sure why my ratings were 2.5 ish when it was 1.5ish....adjusted accordingly but my thoughts below summed things up well..

4-7-2003 Ahhh my much anticipated Schlitz light review...just saw this in a store for the first time ever....bought a case for the boys after hockey and saved a couple to rate....

I like regular Schlitz a lot (for Macro lager)...this is a huge dissapointment...almost like drinking water....I thought Coors Light and Bud Light were watered down....this one might top that....champagne colored....nose isn't bad...some corny adjunct sweetness that I don't mind....mouthfeel is terrible as I mentioned...flavor tops bud light but is very minimal...a bit of corny sweetness...none of the hops light regular Schlitz....maybe a good beer to bong back in college but right now it rates very low even for this category....It does NOT have a bad taste like some cheap beers but that may be due in part because it has literally no taste....

Schlitz Light is a very ordinary light beer in the Schlitz line. While I like the regular version, its light counterpart is quite boring. It is watered down like almost every other light beer, but it retains a little bit of the original's flavor.

Schlitz Light pours a light straw color. A decent foamy white head forms, but disappears in about 30 seconds. The smell is sweet and grainy, with some alcohol smell present in the nose as well. Quite crisp smelling, actually. The mouthfeel is, of course, watery. The initial taste is quite sweet, with almost a grape-like quality to it. Elsewhere on the palette, it tastes like a watery light beer. A slight hint of the caramel taste that was present in the regular version is found here. Slight hop bitterness as well, adding a hint of dryness to the finish. The aftertaste is mostly clean, with a little bit of the hop flavor carrying over. Not much going on in the aftertaste. The beer concludes with no alcoholic warmth.

Summary? Unimpressive, but a little bit more tasty than some other light beers. People who live on light beer might like this stuff, but that's just about the only market that this will appeal to.
