Once our eyes were opened to the potential of the hop cone, we couldn’t be stopped. With a laser focus, we magnified the hop factor, and pushed the boundaries of flavor, aroma, and perception itself to create HI-RES. It’s Mad Science.

Mad science. Alchemy. Pushing boundries.....right on.* update notes* 4/25/18
10.5 %abv. 115 IBU Beer for Beasts indeed ! * 11.1 % abv. 111 ibu.
A very light amber with golden hues, or perhaps a dark gold color. Clear, relaxed with a tight, milky white foam hat.
Major sweet hop aroma, very tropical, honey dew melon, strawberry & pineapple. Sweet pine tree, slightly herbal and a very nice honey, like malt. Very big nose. * This time I'm picking up on a peppery, spice-like kick to the aroma with a bit more boozy heat as well.
The hop flavor is actually very balanced, big earthy tones, dry and mildly bitter effect right off, very clean, juicy malt balance is sublime. A very long, dry, earthy feel and flavor continues to linger with some very warming heat tingle mixed in. Juicy hops with several light tropical flavor's, not nearly as sweet dominated like the aroma. Sweet malt and the tropical notes are certainly there but do not dominate. Bitter, dry earthy tones are a major part of the hop complexity. Many layers of hop and malt make for a very interesting ride. * Vodka-like boozy heat is much more of a presence than I remember from the first review session. Still has that really nice earthy and fruity balance from the hop side.
The feel is never heavy or slick, you would imagine with a 10.5 abv it would be much heavier in feel and flavor, but it comes through, medium, clean and juicy overall. Pretty smooth finish with a very nice dry feel lingers.
Dry hopped with fresh hops. The dry-hopped aspects worked perfectly for that extra dry finish, with the dry, grassy, bitter notes coming out. Very well done and easy to drink for such a big beer. * This feels bigger and badder the second time around, especially with the high level of boozy heat.

This is probably too much for me in the abv dept, but pretty darn impressive to hide most any of the booze behind a wall of hops. This one's got some bite to it, glad I tried it and wish there were others from this brewer available locally.

"Best by 7/10/15"; drank 3/2/15 @ the Yarchives.
See-through orange appearance. HUGE off-white head; frothy lace.
Orange zest, pine, fresh water & a hint of booze heat in the nose.
Medium mouthfeel.
Honey, pine needle & caramel flavors up front; orange citrus zest & faint booze heat on the finish.
Sweet & boozy but with enough caramel ballast for balance. Nice.

Wow. I can’t believe they crammed that much booze into this thing. Big IPA done right. Could have used a little more head but maybe you don’t get much of that in this style. No excessive sweetness or bitterness to counteract the alcohol, and no excessive alcohol taste. Bonus points for coming in cans. And not 16 ounce cans. I have no idea why some of the other big IPAs are showing up in the 16 ounce cans.
