Very Good
Tesla LagerTesla Lager
Notes: The brew is an energetically hopped lager with a notable wheat component. It taps into a current of hop-forward Sixpoint beers, while remaining a distinct Mad Scientists formulation. In the glass, a light amber glow shimmers with a 7.1% ABV and a formidable 49 IBU of bittering power – Sixpoint TESLA is uniquely an “Electrified Wheat Lager.”

L-Deep gold

S-Jump out of the can as soon as you open it. Very hop fragrant. Citrus but also a bit of a spoiled egg aroma.

T-Hops lend a citrusy flavor...oranges and tangerines. Malt adds a little spiciness.

F-Very crisp and dry...medium to light medium bodied.

O-This has some redeeming qualities but the spoiled eggs aroma just hinders it all.

BBD 2/20/17. Clear light amber pour. World class head volume, lacing and retention.

World class nose, especially for a lager. Tropical citrus (mango, pineapple) lead but underneath is a bit of orange coupled with a subtle earthy spiciness. The base aroma is slightly sweet with a nice biscuit compliment.

Light medium body that is smooth but not creamy or slick. Quite outstanding carbonation / body balance. The middle provides a nice effervescent burst that lingers then culminates in a finely bubbled prickly finish.

The flavor profile is very good. The flavors of the nose arrive but never separate well or really pop. The middle has an underlying biscuit sweetness but is counterbalanced by the arrival of uncovered astringent alcohol. Bitterness is mild and tends to be grapefruit coupled with spruce. The finish is a slow fade of grapefruit and alcohol. Alcohol lingers.

Poured from a 12 oz can into a teku. Lightly hazy orange-amber in color. Aroma is floral, with some grapefruit, a little muted overall. A nice range of flavors in a light-to-medium-bodied package -- orange zest, grapefruit, basil, mint, flowers -- with an slightly slick, oily-citrus-y character. A clean, solidly bitter finish with a hint of apple skin. Solid -- the clean, snappy lager base provides a good backdrop for a complex hoppy/bitter profile.

I don't know, maybe I just got a bad six pack or something. Soapy smell and taste. Malty, bread/dough,and some citrus hops. Very bitter, and not good ipa hoppy bitter. aftertaste remains bitter. Has a somewhat OK body. I just think maybe I got a bad 6 pack or something. By far the worst beer from this brewery.

A: [3.75] The can lists the ABV (7.1%) and there is a best by (02/18/2017). It looks like beer! Classic look golden body with 1/2 a finger of white head. The head forms nice arcs of lacing and it sticks around for quite a while.

S: [3.75] Mild hints of pine, pineapple, mango, biscuit, and crackers. Nothing too potent or forward.

T: [4.00] Much more punch than nose. A lot of mango and peach. Really fruit forward flavored. There is some cracker maltiness later but it is not as pronounced as the fruit up front. There is also some pine that appears later in the palate.

M: [4.00] Definitely above medium mouth feel. Feels a bit thicker than most beers. The carbonation is at the right level. There is a bit of a bitter kick on the finish.

O: [4.00] Normally I feel like I can peg a lager on the nose or at least at the first sip. This beer comes across as an APA the entire way. The nose and the flavor are both APA (this is not a complaint just an observation). This is a really well hopped lager and it is really tasty. The hops come across as a really fruity and tropical. I really enjoyed this beer.

A fairly clear orange/gold beer with a fluffy white head that leaves a sheet of lacing behind. The aroma is fruity, floral and has components of bread and hops. The taste is moderately sweet with fruit and grass with a solid bitter finish. This is a quite tasty and hoppy lager.

Pours from the can into a pilsner a clear rich golden with a large fluffy white head that leaves broken rings of lace as it settles slowly.Fresh cut grass and floral aromas, with a light nutty malt component underneath.Flavors start citric and grassy then a hefty mildly sweet pizza dough note comes into play making for a nice complete flover profile.I like the 'bigger' lagers and imperial pilsner's because of the big doughy malt base and this has that to go along with the brash hops.

Different. Odd. Unique. All words to describe this beer. My first few sips really shocked my system. Almost two sweet. Was I eating candy?!? Almost has a syrupy quality (flavor not texture) like I was drinking Pucker's. ( I do not work for Pucker's).
I can't get past it. I want to live it, I do. But I can't. Everything else is there but the flavor.....so it will likely get a good score but I do not want to drink this beer again. FYI...gave flavor a 1. Never did that in my life....

Can dated "BB 19FEB 2017" into pint glass. Pours a clear gold-straw color with a coarse off-white head. Initial impression is a very tasty blend of slightly bitter citrus and tropical fruits, nicely balanced by bready malts. Medium mouthfeel and carbonation. Crisp, refreshing, somewhat bitter finish. A unique take on lager and one that I applaud.

Enjoyed from the can in a pint glass via a friend from work---thanks Kevin
This hoppy pale lager pours a golden yellow tinged amber with a nice head of
white foam that settles to a thick ring, thick pool, and features some excellent
ringed lacing.....beautiful in fact. Nose of the run of the hop mill---light citrus,
grassy, herbal, and sweet breaded malts. Flavors exceed the nose by presentation
with citrus notes of grapefruit on the sides, grassy and herbal hops on the middle and back,
and breaded malts giving a nice backbone with a bitter grassy hop finish.
Nice mouth feel, crisp yet lightly coating, smooth yet sassy and a bitter finish.

NICE. Not a hop head but this is a solid little energy drink looking can
packed full of good stuff.

Cheers

A: Pours a golden color with 2 fingers of head that fades down to a sticky cap that hangs around for a good while

S: Some citrusy hops and bready malts up front, with notes of grass and a light sweetness

T: Follows the nose. Starts off with a bit of citrus from the hops and then goes into a lightly sweet bready maltiness with some grassy and earthy notes. Finishes with a light bitterness and more grassy notes

M: Medium bodied with moderate carbonation

O: A good, easy-drinking IPL that has a good hop/malt balance. Worth checking out if you like hoppy lagers

The beer pours a nice foamy head that dissipates fairly quickly but still leaves a nice residue at the top. The beer is a nice clear medium gold color that is pretty nice to look at but it's a little dark for the style.

The smell is pretty good. It has a nice clean and sweet note from the malts with a decent pine note to it. It isn't complex but it is good. There is also a slight bread note from the yeast but it's hard to find.

The taste is the same as the smell. It has a pine and slight resin note to it with a clean note to it. There is also a slight bread note and sweet note from the yeast and malt respectively.

The feel is pretty good. It's a medium bodied beer with moderate carbonation and a smooth body. It also has a clean feel to it that is pretty nice.

Overall, a good IPL and worth getting it if it's available.

This beer pours gold with a medium head. The aroma offers up huge citrus, orange, lemon, and grapefruit, with manog and bell pepper. The flavor has burnt orange, mango, pineapple, lemon zest, and mandarin orange flesh. The mouthfeel is crisp and light, with some sweetness on the finish. Overall this is a full flavored but crisp beer. Very nice!

This beer pours a slightly hazy deep golden color with a two finger, frothy white head. retention is solid and there are thick chunks of sticky lacing.

Smell is dank pine, grapefruit, citrus pith, bready malt and lager yeast.

Taste is the same with no alcohol presence. Starts off citrusy then transitions to the lager flavor and finishes piney and bitter.

Feel is light and crisp, resinous on the finish.

Overall a great IPL. Up there with the best examples of the style I've had. Maybe slightly behind a couple of Jack's Abby beers.

Tall 12 oz can.
BB date of February 2017.
Amber body topped by a durable and very creamy bone colored head.
This is a very hoppy lager with moderate-high bitterness. Drinks like a light bodied IPA.

Nice looking, but with a very odd aroma. It is very dank/earthy with an aroma that is almost like salt and vinegar potato chips... though there is no sourness or sign of infection present otherwise. Odd, but not offensive, is the best I can describe it.

A - Clear orange body, moderate white head, fading quick to a thin cast, with sticky strings of lacing.

S - Pine, resin, grapefruit, pith, and zest. Clean, lovely.

T - Following on the nose, opening pine, moving to pith with a malty backbone, fading to fruit flesh, then a close of mild bitterness that lingers.

M - Brisk, clean, with some mild drying in the close.

O - A big hop lager that delivers both clean bright fruit and a punchy bitter close without getting blown out. All while delivering an ABV north of 7% with no sign of warmth. I'd get it again.

Pale gold in body with white bubbly head that retreats to the side of the glass. Aroma of boozy fruit, pear, citrus rind, honey cereal. Tastes of pear, citrus rind, booze, honey cereal, and some floral notes. Mild burn at the finish. Light in body with medium carbonation. Quaffable for a big lager.

Pours a dirty straw with a huge head that was over two fingers high. The nose has notes of earthy hops. The flavor is certainly complex but not well balanced - earthiness, graininess, sweet notes, hop bitterness can all be found BUT none of these notes harmonize well with the others.

Poured from a can into a tulip

L: Pours a clear medium golden color. Two fingers of whitish head falls quickly. Snappy lacing.

S: Not a strong nose... lager malts and faint noble hops. Probably the weakest point of the beer.

T/F: Lager-ish up front with a reasonable malt presence... crisp hops becoming increasingly bitter and IPA-ish through the swallow. Finish is bitter and dry. Well carbonated. Finish is a bit sticky. Definite hop resin. Warming. Never seen a 'lager' with an ABV over 7.

O: Definitely a fusion of styles. The lager is present (mostly in the smell) but the IPA dominates... and this is hoppier than many, many, many IPA's. I'd call this an IPA with lager notes as opposed to a lager, as that's what dominates the flavor. Didn't pick up on the wheat aspect all that well. Either way it's a tasty brew... just not one that knows what it wants to be and the ABV packs a bit of a punch.

Beautiful tawny gold and clear with a thick white head and good lacing. Nose is full of malt, a whiff of apricots and light sweet alcohol. A bit of pepper and spicy herbal hops. Clean however. Like all good lagers. Taste is clean too. Malt front is sweet and with light grains and dinner rolls. Hops swoop in and bring a huge noble hop bitterness, Feel is crisp and lively. A light creaminess and quenching refreshing swallow. Super drinkable and no trace of alcohol to warn you of the higher abv. Great beer.

Poured into a 12 oz tulip glass, best by February 2017. Pours a very nice bright orange with a two plus finger sticky white head that leaves tracks all over the place.

Smell is herbal biscuity hops, pine, apricot, fresh cut grass, and grapefruit rind.

Taste follows the spicy earthy biscuity herbal flavor starts the party, with apricot ,cut grass, pine, and grapefruit in a fairly bitter and unique finish.

Mouthfeel is above medium, spry life, a little dry for sure, and excellent drinkability.

Overall this is really good, reminds of something from the master of the IPL Jack's Abbey. Another great one from Sixpoint, 2016 you guys really upted your game.

Pours a pale golden color with a short dense white head that left a mini wall of lacing.

The aroma is of light pine and peppery hops. Not as strong as I would have thought.

The taste is piney, grassy and peppery. There is a light fruitiness to the taste. Perhaps some honey notes. Where the hops didn't show in the nose they sure are present in the flavor.

The feel is light with fizzy carbonation. It's dry on the palate with a significant bitter finish.

Big aggressive hoppy lager.

L (4) - Light amber/dark straw colored beer. Crystal clear, though. Decent coarse head on top
S (4.5) - Smells GREAT! More of a floral or piney aroma than citrus. Intriguing for sure.
T (4) - Tastes very good. Light on the malt, and packs a hop punch. A little bitterness that kinda hangs around on the end.
F (4) - Smooth, easy drinking beer. Seems plenty carbonated, but about what you'd expect here.
O (4) - I really liked this one. Not too familiar with this style, but I feel that Sixpoint did it justice.
