16 ounce pint - Taco Mac in Kennesaw, Georgia.

Appearance: Pours a medium-toned brown body with a slim, paper thin, tan head.

Smell: Pithy, resinous top note from the hoppier elements. Muted brown sugar, nuts, ashen roast, and ineffusive chocolate powder.

Taste: Earthy, roasted nuts. Very low hint of brown sugar, even lesser hint of cocoa powder. Some ashy soot, molasses. Never much sweetness present. Resinous, citric hops with a medium-plus bitterness. Light nutty, roasty flavors, as well as some sustained, scraping resins on the finish.

Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied (barely), feels a little hollow. Medium carbonation.

Overall: A muddled hop-forward brown ale that, even with the addition of extra hops, still feels bland and lifeless.

16oz can, freshness date on the bottom.

LOOK: cloudy mahogany, sticky two fingers of tan head, lots of lacing and retention. Great. True to its name.

SMELL: Ample, up front hop resin, followed by milder bread, and spicy, caramel, faint orange peel, herbs, hay, and salty boardwalk.

TASTE: Very hoppy in a dry, resinous way, more than any brown ale, I've yet had, then it's smooth, toasted, chocolate, with wet hop bitter finish... also notes of pepper, orange rind, nuts, alcohol, with a dry, excellent finish.

FEEL: Perfect, dry, appetizing. Try at cellar temp for a real treat!

Feels and tastes like new york waterfront of 1900s. First rate, maybe top US Brown ale!
