Sixpoint Brewery
New York, United States

Style: American Blonde Ale

Alcohol by volume (ABV): 5.00%

Availability: Year-round

Notes / Commercial Description:
If you traced from 2004, you’d see that SWEET ACTION is a representation of our palates at any given point in time… it’s a vibe more so than it was ever one distinct formulation. This version, a juicy, blonde wheat ale, is the latest iteration in that story.

A: Semi-clear dark amber beer, with a low head of white. Little in the way of lace, and head retention is low.

S: Pine hop aromas plus the smell of grapefruit. Really nice

T: The taste is a blend of sweetness from malts and hop bitterness, although it is more bitter than sweet overall.

M: Chewy in body and a low level of carbonation. It finishes pretty dry and moderately bitter.

O: To me I'd have guessed this was a pale ale instead of a cream ale. It was a good beer but not sure if they pegged the name or the style quite right.

never had a beer officially categorized as a cream ale. Here goes.

Pours semi hazy orange-copper color with fluffy frothy 1 1/2 finger head. Retention is great.

I pick up orange first in the aroma along with some sweet cream. Is the fact its a cream ale making me think so? Smells almost like an orange creamsicle which I love. Not overly strong aroma though after the first whiff.

The taste is right along the lines of its smell. I really get orange creamsicle. Its orange rind backed with sweet and smooth cream. A touch of bitterness keeps it from being overly sweet.

light body and silky smooth. Moderate carbonation. each sip makes the palate demand more.

Continue to be impressed with Sixpoint. This one is delicately crafted for sure. Hits the expectation of what I thought a cream ale would be and gives me a bit of a hop fix too. Thanks Sixpoint.

Very interesting.
Exceptionaly enjoyable on multiple fronts.
Crisp,smooth and yes,creamy.
Nice hop snap with a drenching silky finish.
Usually , when tasting a new brew that I have read about,
Especially a new style. I come through mildly unimpressed, if
not disappointed.
Not the case with Sweet Action.
This is what I hoped a cream ale would taste like, and more.
I only remember Genesse offering this style many years ago.
Sixpoint continues its meteoric rise on my
favorite breweries list. Thanks

Pours a clear, copper color. 1/4 inch head of a white color. Decent retention and decent lacing. Smells of sweet malt, slight caramel malt, slight earthy malt, hops, slight alcohol, and cream. Fits the style of a Cream Ale. Mouth feel is smooth and clean, with an average carbonation level. Tastes of sweet malt, slight pale malt, hint of caramel malt, hops, slight alcohol, slight cream, and a hint of yeast. Overall, good aroma, feel, body, and blend for a Cream Ale.
