On tap @ the Blind Tiger 08-05-09

A- Pours a dark amber with a 2 finger fluffy head, low carbonation.
S- Citrus notes, some caramel hints
T- Sweet and malty with some hops mixed, more a malty DIPA than hoppy one
M- Medium bodied, DIPA, a little on the boozy side.
D- This DIPA was a little too malty for me, I like my DIPA's with more hops, which this was lacking, a little too sweet for my liking. I prefer their Bengal Tiger IPA to this one.

On tap from whole foods. Pours a pale yellow. Has a decent head, doesn't last long, recedes quickly. The scent is not overpowering some hops, some citrus, not much else. Taste is not overpowering and in fact a bit bland. However, for some reason I liked it. Incredible drinkability, juicy mouthfeel, very refreshing. This I might consider buying again. Gemini might be a good gateway beer for the uncraft conscious. Overall, drinkable beer and enjoyable.

11.7% abv

First taste was of a shot of hops with alcohol integrated. The beer poured a deep amber. Head dissipates to lace pretty fast. The nose betrays deep citrus hops. The finish on the beer is hot alcohol.

I left the beer to sit for a while and noticed it started to break down and get funkier as it warmed.

I didn't find the beer particularly drinkable. It's too hot. Maybe with some age it would mellow nicely?

Tap at Horseshoe Pub

Fizzy creamy 1/2 finger head fades slowly with lacing, semi hazy orange reddish honey colored.

Nose brings a rich sweet malt at first, big malty base, and some chewy earthy slight citrus hops, mostly bittering hops im assuming,

Taste is rich, big malts mostly sweet pale malts, touch of warming booze and some almost syrupy sweetness, quite bitter, earthy chewy hops, light citrus, tangerine and other fruits, light marmalade or candy flavor, finishes sweet and bitter, again pretty bitter, lingering syrupy sweet candy malts and chewy hops.

Mouth is med to a bit heavier bodied, good carb, some warming booze, sticky finish.

Overall not bad, very bitter but not a ton of hop flavor, sweet perhaps too much but its needed to balance the booze and heavy bitterness, and the syrupy feel with sticky finish is a bit iffy.

From notes taken at the Armsby Abbey on 5/9/11.

A - Man, this looks great in a glass. A wonderful hazy orange pour with a huge fluffy two finger head that just doesnt quit. Big, sticky side lacing too. Picture perfect.

S - Nice hoppy pine resin. No malts really to speak of just straight forward hops.

T - Sweet, slightly malty that leads the way to nice oily piney hops. Just malt and pine notes, thats it.

M - Low carbonation, which I expect with this style. Does have a crisp, dry, bitter finish.

O - This is an okay DIPA. Somewhat one note though with the big pine resin flavors dominating the smell and taste.

I had this on-tap at Max's. Poured into a sample glass.

Appearance: Pours a cloudy light amber with very little white head that goes away quickly.

Smell: Sweet and fruity with citrus hops. Mild for the style.

Taste: Better than the smell. Sweet with very bitter citrus hops from the start of each sip all the way through the finish.

Mouthfeel: Medium body with mild carbonation and a dry finish.

Overall: A very nice DIPA. Balanced with a really pleasant hop profile. I would have another.

Thanks Sixpoint for the brew

Pours a dark golden amber color, some carbonation, not much of a head, and did not last long, no lacing at all. The nose is hoppy, malty, not much citrus going on, some caramel undertones. The taste is hoppy and malty (good balance), slight citrus, good caramel undertone. Medium body. Drinkable, a nice DIPA, wish I had a chance to try this fresher, highly recommended.

Reviewed on 9/6/08. Growler. Pours a dark brown with a thick foamy tan head. Aroma of piney and citrusy hops, sweet citrusy malt. Flavor of lots of citrusy malt and bitter hops, light tropical fruits and melon rind. A little sweeter than I'd prefer but it's pretty well balanced. Very drinkable (the 10.6% is completely hidden). Another winner from Sixpoint.

Light copper with a small amount of head that had little retention but left some lacing. Combination of floral and sweet in the nose. Light malty profile with some hop bitterness on the finish. The hoppyness is present for sure, but not enough for a DIPA. There is a faint alcohol twang at the very end of this offering.

Thanks to sixpoint for the trade...
Appears a hazy amber with a small white head that fades into a mild cap and collar. Spottly lacing is left around the glass. Lots of sediment found it's way to the bottom of the glass.
Smell is of caramel, pine, orange, and brown sugar.
Taste is of sugary, piney, brown sugar, caramel, maple, and molasses. Very rich.
Mouthfeel is mediumb bodied, leaning towards caramel sweetness, though balanced with some citrusy hops. Some abv is noticeable but certainly not 10.6%.
