Some beers are easy to make and difficult to drink… but Alpenflo is the opposite on both counts. It took years to acquire the materials and formula for Alpenflo—we’re talking all-malt, 100% 2-row barley, and we source all of the Tettnanger hops directly from family farms in Bavaria to give it that gentle spice. This lager is then cold-stored in horizontal lagering tanks to round out the flavor profile. Once opened, that frothy beverage is gone in a flash.

This beer appears to have made a limited rerelease comeback for the brewery's 20th anniversary. Light gold color, flash of a nice white head. Bready malts, baked bread. Smooth and good. Not the best helles out there but pretty solid.

Murky bright golden body with a huge eggshell white head, spotted lacing. A hoppier nose for the style, doughy malts with biscuit, floral and grassy accents. Taste has a thinner complexion than expected, malty all the way with doughy and butter accents, light bread and floral hops. Feel is highly carbonated, crisp but also watery. Stunned how highly it is rated as a helles, lacks depth of the style

This is one of the best beers I have ever tasted/drank. The terrible downside: It’s impossible to find. Found a sole can at a Total Wine in Florida. Once. Over a year ago. Not to be seen again, and I always look. We’re missing out Six Point!

Served from can dated 01/21/20 on 12/20/20, purchased 12/10/20 from Total Wine.
Foam literally shot out of the can when opened. Thick rocky white head, has some staying power.
Appearance is cloudy amber, quite dark for Helles.
Noble hop aroma, crackers.
Viscous, malt forward flavor, a hint of bitterness up front, then more in the aftertaste.
Overall I like the beer, but Helles? No Way, too dark, viscous and cloudy. Then again, not a fresh sample, even though it was purchased 10 days ago. Sixpoint/Total Wine, clean up your distribution act.

I lived in Europe for 12 years, part of that time in Bavaria, and I am wild about clean German-style lagers. Problem is, they’re extremely difficult to replicate i a bottle or can, even in Germany, because purity, high-quality ingredients, and freshness are key. This beer is the closest thing I’ve had to a Bavarian Biergarten lager and is one of the only beers I’ll drink at home. Hats off to Six Points for knocking it out of the park while many other brewers mask sub-par production by producing high alcohol content IPAs that are mostly rubbish.

12 oz. can Dated 1/5/20 and consumed on 2/21/20 - very fresh. Poured into a chilled (NOT frosted) pint glass
.
Color - golden. Smell - this beer sources their hops from German farms. Since the beer was so fresh the hops were way up front. Taste - no exaggeration - exactly like you would expect lager to taste. Feel - crisp and soft.
.
Quite simply, this is the best lager I have ever tasted on this side (California) of the Atlantic. No doubt the freshness had a lot to do with that. Balance between malt and hops was perfect. I was at Oktoberfest in Munich last year (2019) and this beer would have been at home with anything I had there.

Clear and golden body under a fat finger or two of white foam... Herbal and grassy and grainy on the nose, with a sweetly chewy malt backbone that carries a bit of spice, like cardamon, nutmeg, and clove... Mildly bitter with a light suggestions of pine and pith... Light-bodied and clean-edged, with a bit of husk and drying on the finish... 1/5/20 canning, with a best by of 1/5/21...

Decanted from a 12 oz (35 oz) can into a Sam Adams taster pint; canned 9/18/19.
A: Pours a slightly hazy, golden color with a one finger, white head, but low retention and little or no lacing.
S: Grassy, grainy, and peppery aromas.
T: Semidry. Flavor follows the nose although distinctively more citrus. Bitterness light with bread/cracker finish.
M: Light to medium bodied with light carbonation.
O: Well constructed, very enjoyable Helles. Substantial.

A: The beer is crystal clear yellow in color and has a moderate to high amount of visible carbonation. It poured with a finger high dense white head that took a very long time to settled down and left some lacing down the sides of the glass.
S: Light to moderate aromas of floral hops are present in the nose along with notes of fruity yeast and hints of herbal hops.
T: The taste follows the smell and has additional hints of bready and grainy malts. There is a slight amount of bitterness.
M: It feels medium-bodied and very clean on the palate with a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: This beer is extremely drinkable and goes down very easily.
Serving type: can

12oz can into a pint glass. Canned March 2018, so 18 months old.
Bright golden yellow body with fast streams of carbonation. Small white head persists throughout leaving nice lacing.
A little wheat and hay on the nose.
Sweet taste, and as you would expect at this age, any hop note is gone. A little grainy in the background, but this is a pretty clean tasting beer.
Mouth around medium, finish a little sweet and grainy.
Overall, given the age, it's still a serviceable drink, and quite enjoyable.

Golden, sun-tanned leather...absolutely stunning to look at. Crackery, pils-lite aroma; herbal-spice hop accents. Clean, if simple malt profile, gentle enough that subtle--puffed cereal, vitamin water, and almond--sweetness is detected. Marjoram bitterness lingers. This is my out-of-the-can experience.
Otherwise, it drinks hard and cold, fast and flavorless like my local Stewart's shoppe brand.
