Notes: A carefully aged and calibrated Imperial Stout that's nuanced, delicate and complex. Expect gentle roast integrated with notes of coconut and vanilla in a medium bodied, silky beer. An extreme brewday, with two full mashes of all first runnings... then aged for a year in first fill bourbon barrels.

Canned 12/01/19, this pours black color with a 2+ finger thick foamy tan colored head that faded in average time but left little to no lacing. Smells like vanilla, dark chocolate, rum or dark rum, woody notes, bourbon, mild soy sauce, char and dark fruit. No sweetness really, but nice complex booze and barrel aging aromas.

Tastes of dark chocolate, molasses, vanilla, espresso beans, bourbon, faint piney or herbal accents, charred wood, cola soda, light soy sauce, burnt coffee and a fruity sweetness that’s similar to grappa but not cloyingly sweet. There’s actually a little bitterness to this brew that balances the sweetness. The booze is held in check and the ABV is very well hidden. This was a tasty slow sipper from SixPoint which should be an annual release.

12 oz can dated 12/1/19 from jrc1093. Prairie Rastal glass.

Dark liquid pour with some brown tinges and an impressively tall head of 2 fingers, receding to a finger, leaving connected hills of lacing on the glass.

Aroma is sopping wet bourbon barrel, just a massive amount, with some hazelnut coffee, hot caramel, butterscotch, toffee, molasses, and dark roasted coffee. Incredible!

Flavor opens with jabs of peppery coffee and some slight dark berry infection, but that subsides as heavy caramel and bourbon barrel show up to rule the show. Caramel, toffee, sharp hits of spicy rye, some floral hops, and black coffee all show up as well. The odd wild berry note still remains right at the finish.

The feel is cool and creamy with some light jabs of carbonation and a steady heat throughout and roasted grittiness on the tongue. Sticky finish, really coats the palate.

Overall a really impressive beer and one I'd gladly have again. I think infection has grabbed this one by the ankle but it's still marching onward. Great beer.

A - Very dark brown colored pour, moderate and dense toffee colored creamy lacing ring and light carbonation.

S - Dark roasted chocolate malt, bourbon, vanilla, and oak.

T - Chocolate char, a subtle hint of cherry up front, light smokiness, vanilla, oak, bourbon, and a long lingering roasted chocolate and cocoa. Nice lingering chocolate finish.

M - Thick and full mouthfeel with a little bit of thinness around the edges. Minimal warming on the way down with some dryness on the back of the tongue.

O - This is pretty fantastic. Nice job Sixpoint! Recommended.

a cold clear night, perfect for an imp stout after dinner

eyes... (12/2/19 on the can)
one full finger of cocoa head, near perfect lacing, legs for days demonstrating the ABV weight in this beast, 200K miles motor oil black, the head fades but a super strong o-ring remains, a quick swirl and the walls of the glass are coated once more, nice

boozy vanilla, marshmallow, boozy dry cocoa, some wet oak in the back, very bourbon centric... not a bad thing

taste etc...
thin carbonation as it enters the never ending cave that is my maw, coats the outer lips, boozy vanilla and sweetness is the major factor here, it then eases and you really taste the bourbon, a little bit of chocolate under that, and a hint of bitterness is trying to elbow in there but the booze is prevalent, not 'hot' like a distraction but defitntely the top dog barking in your mouth, a little warming in the old gut from the ABV but considering the strength this does not punch you in the face immediately, kind of medium weight, the carbonation is actually perfect the more I sip this, like bourbon this is easier to drink as it goes, by the last sip it is almost all vanilla/chocolate notes, perhaps a bit too much on the sweet side of the fence for this yankee...

really good, the bourbon is strong with this one, winds up a little off for me that I prefer more bitter/darker, this winds up more vanilla and sweet, very smooth though, way to easy to drink with that ABV lurking in those waters

A: The beer is black when viewed from afar and has traces of dark brown near the edges of the glass when held up to a bright light. It poured with a short tan head.
S: Light to moderate aromas of bourbon are present in the nose.
T: The taste follows the smell and has flavors of bourbon along with notes of coconuts and hints of port. There are some hints of alcohol.
M: It feels full-bodied on the palate and has a low amount of carbonation.
O: I liked the flavors of bourbon and coconuts in this beer, which definitely tasted strong, but nothing like 13.8% abv.

L -- Pours a very deep cola-hued body with 1.5 fingers of tan head produced with moderate pour. Some retention and good lacing
S -- Big notes of dried dark fruit and oaky bourbon. Some vanilla, caramel, molasses, herbal hop, smokey char
T -- Big dried dark fruit presence here too, especially fig and raisin. Fairly sweet but not overly so, balances the big boozy character and aggressive bourbon notes. You can tell this is barrel aged!
F -- Pretty limp for the ABV, but has a nice red-wine astringency on the finish
O -- Solid effort by Sixpoint, definitely one of their standout offerings

Crazy thick son! This one is a complete shocker. You wouldn’t imagine it would taste so rich and sweet and full by looking at the can but it’s up there with the best imperial stouts ever

Very bourbon. Very rich. Pours black, dark brown with a thin tan head that faded quickly. Aroma is very bourbon and some roasty/smoky notes. Flavor is very bourbon with some malty background. Feel is very nice, rich and mouthcoating. Overall, it's a bit to much bourbon and not much imperial stout. Still a very nice beer, just lacks a small flavor rounding to make it great.

12 oz thin can...w/ "canned on 01 Dec 2019" stamped on the bottom....allowed to warm up for about 30 mins

Pours near black, minor mocha cap, leaves low sheeting and just some minor spots of lacing.

Smoky dark chocolate brownies and smooth rum on the nose..yum yum yum..

Ooey gooey brownies again on the palate, dark chocolate, rum....dark malty chocolate milkshake, flavorful thick and need to age this one..its drinking just fine right now....mighty fine night capper
