Had this on tap at Amsterdam Ale House in New York. There are a number of doubles that are better than the single in my opinion. Liquid Gold - Xtra Gold, Dead Guy - Double Dead Guy. This is another. The maltiness and sweetness of the original beer is better suited with more alcohol.
Dark brown in color, hazy with a little of a golden hue. Aroma is good. Malty and refreshing. The taste is not too hot and very balanced malt, hop and alcohol with a taste of honey on the end.
Very good beer.

A good strong ale that's missing just a touch of flavor to really stand out. No complaints, would drink again.

This one's a real winner. A beer this great deserves an extended review, and, accordingly, I will provide one. Here goes:
A: Dark but clear brown. The beer is very translucent despite being of the darker variety. It's accompanied by a white, creamy head and superb lacing. Overall, the beer looks really great. Hopefully the taste will follow suit.
S: Some floral scents (like citrus and orange) accompanied by superb malt. The beer is extraordinarily well-balanced. The malt smells very candy-like; lots of brown sugar and succulent caramel. I feel like a kid at a carnival who's about to bite into cotton-candy for the very first time.
T: Superb! Magnifico! Exquisite! Some hops, but the malt is where this beer is. Sweet candy, sugar, molasses, caramel - just great! I could drink this for the rest of my life.
F: Dangerously drinkable. Very light and crisp - almost as light as a Pilsner. The sweetness dulls the crispness somewhat, but let's face it: I can't really find any fault with this beer as it is.
O: Excellent.

Poured a clear, copper body with one-finger head that left a minor lace ring and beer has an aroma that is caramel, toffee, and bread with hints of vanilla and booze. Lightly sweet vanilla aspect first hits me and there is a bready chewiness and caramel bite to this beer, with possible toffee and figs as well. Easy finish as just a touch of booze complements beer.
