Old world craftsmanship with new, clean flavors. Bright pilsner malts meet Noble hop character. The Crisp, American Pilsner innovation.
We were sixty feet underground when the beer came calling. While sinking tankards in ancient beer caves near the foot of the Alps, inspiration struck -- and at that exact moment, THE CRISP® was born. The can in your hand turns obsession to reality. Now that's Crisp.

I received a "The Crisp" Pilz can in August, 2022 (best by 12/21/22). I'm revising my previous review and rating (see below). The aroma is inviting and the flavor is nice, with quite a bit of hop flavor. The bitterness is still lacking, but the aftertaste here is lasting and inviting. I would have liked more malt body and bitterness, but overall it's quite drinkable.
Sixpoint "the Crisp" lager can opened in May 2021. The beer pours nicely, a rich golden body is accompanied by a white foam the recedes fairly quickly. The aroma is beery. The flavor starts well, a medium body with a good hop bitterness. The bitterness fades, and that's where the trouble starts. I was left with an unpleasant floral sweet taste in my mouth that really took me by surprise, since I expected the bitterness to linger pleasantly. The sweetness even affected my perception of the ensuing sips, degrading the experience further (Overall rating 2.95).

Tall can to the face. Fruity scent, very hoppy but not overdone. The taste can sadly be described as 'rust water'. It's as if there is an excellent pilsner buried underneath, alongside an extra dose of hops, but it's mostly off-flavors (spoiled fruits) galore

This is a clear-golden brew with a thick, lasting white head; it *looks* fantastic. However, there's a weird fruitiness to the nose. The carbonation is good. There's an agreeable, appropriate-to-style bitterness in the finish. The malt-hop balance is also good. Yet there is some of that weird fruit quality on the palate.
I suspect there's something "off" about this sample. I'll try it again.

BB date :10/27/23 . I've had this plenty of times , but apparently never reviewed it. Just ran across it not-ancient [YEARS out-of-date,in some cases] for the first time in a LONG time so grabbed it. Let's see if it lives up to the memory of it . ;)
Slightly hazy gold, with not quite one finger of very fine white head.
Smell is straw, biscuity malt, a slight sweet floral aroma, and a bit of coriander and black pepper.
Taste is light cracker, a tiny, brief bit of sweetness, finishing with the spiciness. Essentially, all of the elements present in the aroma, but less intense, and more balanced/blended. Light bitterness.
Feel is light and smooth, initially soft and lightly-creamy, finishing dry, with very, very fine carbonation tingle. Lingering drying effect at, & after finish.
While not as "Wow" as I remember it, it's still pretty good, and would be welcome anytime. :)

Serving: This beer was sampled from both a keg and a can, recent can best by 9/23. Another tasting took place in July 2018.
Appearance: It has a medium golden hue and medium-high carbonation. When poured into a chilled Pilsner glass, it produced an impressive cumulus cloud-like head with complete retention and lacing.
Scent: The beer has a captivating citrus, floral, and pine hop aroma.
Taste: The flavor profile displays a medium maltiness, while the hop blend emphasizes notes of citrus, pine, and spice. There's also a notable fruity/sweet presence, likely from the yeast, or perhaps leaning towards a Helles style. The piney hop provides a somewhat bitter aftertaste. The beer maintains a very clean, balanced, crisp, and refreshing character, just as a Pilsner should.
Overall: This is a very good beer. The can packaging managed to preserve a flavor profile similar to the keg serving, which is a testament to the effectiveness of cans and dry hopping in retaining flavor. One of my favorite Pilsner’s

Received this as a sample, so why not test it out for my "Perfect German Style Pilsner"?
L: Pours a crystal clear golden with a two finger, rocky, white head that dissipates moderately to leave behind moderate, yet delicate lacing.
S: Smells of bread and noble hops. Pretty forward hoppiness on the nose overall.
T: Most of the malt that was on the nose is notably absent. Extremely mild malt is overtaken by floral, earthy and mildly citrusy noble hops. Taste pretty good, but lacks the refined balance that the German imports have. However, this is one of the better US brewed Pilsners I have tasted.
F: Medium-light bodied, crisp, refreshing and finishes fairly dry. Spot on for feel.
O: For a US brewed German Style Pilsner, this is pretty good. Definitely not as good as authentic, but still a great showing from the US!

Lived in Germany loved the pils, came back to states, only ipas and pale ales would suffice after that, but too heavy as I got older, drank this, just love it.

After years of drinking IPA’s, most of which I like, I’ve been searching for a quintessential Pilsner. I wanted to find the old magic of what I used to drink but with more punch and crispness. I’ve had little success but this is it and I loved it from the first sip (well, gulp).
