Can found in the back of the fridge (dated 2017!) into pint glass. Pours a deep browmn with a couple of fingers of medium-tan head. Great lacing. Initial impression is heavily weighted toward the chocolate end of the spectrum. Bourbon is more of a hint; no evidence of coffee. Very smooth and mellow for 10%. Finish is more cocoa and ever so slightly bitter. Delicious!

Nothing wrong with this beer.

Smooth, dark roasted flavor with just a hint of sweetness and the appropriate level of bitterness. Solid all the way through. Ill be seeking out the BA version of this, wish me luck.

12 oz tall can into a Tervis pint (from Dec. 2018 notes).
The brown-black body is opaque in the glass and topped by a large, bubbly, semi-durable beige head.
Bourbon barrel notes dominate the aroma. The flavors brings more dark roasted grain and coffee. There would probably be more coffee presence if this was fresher. Despite some aging, the high ABV was still obvious.

Cola-black body with deep, dark brown around the edges. Small, light khaki head of tiny, creamy bubbles. Minimal lacing.

Baker's chocolate, espresso, licorice, vanilla, charred and damp wood, toffee, fig newtons, dried cherries, maple, roasted malts. Outstanding.

Maple, chocolate-covered fruits, vanilla, fig, light licorice and char, caramel, dark roast coffee, plus some earthy and bitter hops on the end. Sounds very sweet given the flavor highlights, but the residual sweetness is actually quite low. Well done.

Feel is a touch thin with surprising carbonation, but velvety smooth. Very little booze or heat.

For a porter, this is exceptional. Even for a BA stout it's outstanding.

12oz can served in a little wine glass. Best by November 2020. Picked it up at Captain's in Port Charlotte, FL.

Pours black with a small head, medium to low carbonation. Smell is roasty, with some wood and vanilla. Smells boozy.

Taste is moderately similar -- booze is strong, wood is strong, clearly roasty but not as up front as in the aroma.

Mouthfeel is medium bodied, surprisingly effervescent. Overall, pretty good.

Dark brown in color with little penetration to light. There’s a fingernail of brown on top. Light lacing. The aroma is of chocolate and sweet bourbon. I’m tasting chocolate, sweet bourbon, coffee, and vanilla. The mouth is thick and sticky.

Pours out black with a fairly dense brown head. Retention is excellent and leaves a bit of lacing.

Sweet roasted coffee in the nose with a dash of cream. Also you get a hint of bourbon in the back.

Lightly roasted coffee, vanilla, cream, and bourbon. Not getting any alcohol warmth despite the abv.

Mouthfeel is full bodied and smooth. Carbonation is light.

2017 from a can.

3 Beans pours black in the glass. Cola brown highlights flicker in the light, and an impressive tanned head rises two fingers high, rocky yet smooth at first, then recedes to a comfortable coast and spotty islands. There are little spots that spackle the glass with traces of lace.

Wonderful bourbon soaked vanilla beans and espresso escape from the dark depths below. Chocolate blends in to create an iced mocha experience, but a bit of iron/metallic scent lies in the background.

Well expressed in the same sentiments, coffee, chocolate, vanilla beans, and booze dance around all in sync with each other. Minor notions of dessert spices linger in, giving support to the mention of cola in it's appearance. As it warms, those spices take on more of a Mexican hit chocolate life.

It feels somewhat creamy at first, but seems a bit thin and lively with carbonation. Which to say is appropriate seeing how this is called a Baltic Porter, so I assume it is in fact lagered. But still, it seems a little too spritzy for me. There is a good hefty and expected alcohol warmth, but overall seems pretty well balanced.

No question here. I'd revisit 3 Beans in a heartbeat. I've seemed to have had more bourbon barrel aged Baltic Porters lately than their base examples, but considering the track record, I'm more than ok with that. Keep them coming. Cheers!

From a 12oz can dated 2017. Pours a dark-as-night inky black with a fast dissapating off-white head. Delicious sweet nose of coffee and chocolate, and a plate to match. Lightly carbonated. Not my cup of tea with a 10% ABV, but an excellent beer to be sure.

Looks and pours amazing. The nose is a perfect blend of chocolate coffee with that back up of a very nice hint of bourbon. Bourbon on the tongue with that chocolate coffee finish to smooth it all out. Like silk across your mouth with a little bubble cleaner.

Beautiful dark chocolate coffee color. Nice initial thick head that faded quickly. The smell is rich with chocolate and coffee. Taste is what you'd expect with the rich chocolate and coffee. The sweet bourbon is right there with coffee and chocolate and the alcohol is not overpowering. Such a nice brew the mouthfeel is smooth and easy to drink. This is an excellent tasting porter, probably the best Baltic I've had. Recommend this to all my friends and Beer Advocates. Six Point wins again.

L: Had this beer on-tap at Jack Brown's - Richmond, poured into a pint glass. Had a dark brown / black color and an opaque consistency. There was a half inch of foamy, tan-colored, fairly long head. Not much lacing, though.

S: A decent, but slightly underwhelming, aroma of coffee, roasted malt, chocolate, and some vanilla.

T: Taste of a small amount of oak, some mild vanilla notes (mostly in the finish), lots of roasted malt, some coffee (not as much as advertised), a bit of chocolate, and a hint of bourbon. Not an overly robust flavor. The coffee should have been a more featured ingredient. Not bad, but seems a little subdued.

F: A solid amount of carbonation with a dry finish. Medium-bodied.

O: This beer has its good qualities, but it's still kind of uneven. Worth a look, though.
