A - very dark brown with reddish edges; huge, thick, dense, foamy, brownish head that has great retention

S - faint roasted malts and some faint coffee; an aroma akin to lager yeast

T - coffee, some chocolate, big bitter finish, spicy alcohol, grainy aftertaste

M - full bodied, well carbonated, big alcohol

This is a bit disappointing. It has the intense coffee notes that I was anticipating and the cacao made its presence known. These two notes are very good. However, there was a faint grainy aftertaste as well as a burning alcohol presence which really slowed down the drinking experience for me. In the end, this was still an enjoyable offering that I will definitely try to get my hands on again.

S-Overwhelming coffee with some roasted malt.

T-Great balance of coffee, along with roasted malt, caramel, chocolate and vanilla.

M-Medium bodied, nicely carbonated and creamy.

O-A wonderful coffee beer, the 10% is well hidden.

Poured into tulip, best before 10JUL2013

A: Deep, almost-black, brown that’s just transparent when held up to light, with a beige, fine, creamy one finger head and delicate lacing

S: Bitter chocolate, roasted coffee beans on the nose. Sweet, bready malts. Smells a bit like the inside of a high quality candy shop.

T: Bitter black coffee hits and wraps around your mouth. Roasted malts with smokey, bittersweet chocolate and caramel flavors. Slight hints of fresh baked bread. Very little in the way of hops, but maybe some slight earthy tones. Bitterness in the finish lingers like a good cup of espresso would.

M: Smooth, creamy and slightly viscous mouthfeel. Little carbonation, but it tingles on the tongue.

O: A coffee lovers dream. If you want a coffee beer, I would choose this over other coffee porters and even Founders Breakfast Stout. This is one smooth beer and very enjoyable one if you like coffee and roasty porters. Quite a good offering from Sixpoint, I wish they would make this a permanent addition to their line up.

Poured from the can a deep mahagony with well defined half finger light tan colored head,a little lighter in color than most I have had from the style.Aromas of dark roast coffee, bitter chocolate, and earth,it seems quite dry and no alcohol sweetness.Starts out with deep coffee roast with underlying unsweetened chocolate, mild molasses-like sweetness that quickly gets hit with a healthy dose of piney hops in the finish. This is a hopped up Baltic Porter, one of the dryer and complex of the style I have had,it's just a little sharp in the feel but this is pretty damn good.
