12 fl oz tall skinny can with the bottom reading best before July 10, 2013. Fear not, for it is entering my belly right now. My first review of a beer coming from a can! Based on what everyone has been saying about this beer, I couldn't be more excited.

Poured into a Firestone Walker pint glass.

A - Pours just a shade away from black with the tiniest little ruby dot showing through some bubble action. About two fingers of creamy tan head sitting on top with some pretty nice retention. Thick wispy lacing on the sides of the glass follows.

S - Bold, rich, coffee smell. Roasted malts. Some cocoa / vanilla hybrid scent in there. Doesn't really smell as amazing as I was hoping for.

T - Rich, creamy, and smooth. Roasted coffee beans, obviously dominate at first. Can definitely feel the warmth from this beer's bold 10.00% abv. Very nicely balanced flavors of roasted coffee beans, toasted malts and barley, and even a nice fresh hop presence in the back end. Hint of dark fruit presence, however the bold assertive coffee is the main attraction here. Hop presence and that bold coffee ground flavor become even more prominent as the beer begins to warm.

M - Again, creamy, rich and smooth with a hoppy resinous aftertaste. Very well balanced, very well-bodied, very tasty. A very bitter dark beer also, but not over the top by any means.

Overall, a pleasure to look at in/out of the can, a pleasure to drink, and a pleasure to behold. Here's to hoping that they brew this beauty again. An excellent beer all around.

Skinny can with a freshness date on the bottom.

Nearly full on black, beautiful rings of lace on the glass. Big display of aromatics, bold roasted coffee, cacao nibs, black berries, mild charcoal and faint rose water. Semi-creamy fullish body, lots of backbone here. Rustic vibe, mellow overtones of chocolate with a lush brushing of coffee. Floral, clean alcohol, kiss of malt sweetness and a balanced hoppiness let the beans unleash their full complexities. At 10% you can feel the warmth but no heat at all, a pleasure to drink and it is obviously a sipper ... perfect portioned can.

I poured this into a tulip glass, it has a rich black colored body with a nice tan head on it. The smell has a nice roasted malt and coffee aroma.
The taste is out of this world, the balance of coffee and choc is great, u taste them both. It also has some roasted malt to it also. The mouth feel is spot on and overall a darn good beer.
