Very good place with a huge selection. I have gotten many rares there, such as SNR10, Black note, and even a westveltreen Blonde. I have to say, overall It's probably one of the best places in the Columbia South Carolina area. Also the staff that works there is very knowledgeable.

This is the best beer store/warehouse I've ever been to. It's the kind of store that will have what you are looking for, or all you have to do is talk to management and they can get you hooked up with a little time. I drove from Greenville to Myrtle Beach every weekend to visit family, and along the way I ALWAYS made a point to stop here.

Large selection, helpful staff. The beer here seems to be fresher than the Green's up in Greenville, but maybe it's just the bottles I happened to pick. Still, I may be on to something, because other reviewers seem to mirror my impressions.

My favorite place to shop for beer in SC. Wes is a great dude and keeps all the important things in stock. They are always loaded with Westbrook and other SC brews. There is also an awesome cellar where you can find all sorts of nice treats from around the world. Very easily located off 26 which makes it impossible not to stop.

FIrst of all the staff is amazing. They are friendly, knowledgeable, beer fanatics and way over the top helpful! They had my head spinning with the selection available. I found some De Cam Lambieks just sitting in their fancy wine chiller. They threw out all the wine and stuffed it with amazing sours and belgians (nevermind though, because they're wine selection is ludicrous, too). The selection was truly overwhelming. Sierra is really friendly and she enjoys talking about beer. Wes is truly a gentleman. He is patient, friendly and extremely knowledgeable about beer- exotics and rarities. He hosts tastings and he never leaves anyone out! They've always got time for everybody. It's not so bad having to work out here in South Carolina so long as these guys are around. Prost!

Nice selection of Belgiums and Lambics in the walk in cellar. Four aisles of craft brews in singles and multi-packs. Also has the usual giant selection of Buds and American by the cases. Usually have 10 taps for Growlers...and usually a wide selection for anyone's taste. And don't forget to check out the small singles rack up front towards the registers...it sometimes houses singles you cannot find elsewhere.
Most of the staff is knowledgeable...aside from the cashiers who usually couldn't care less. I'm certain that the cashiers are the only place that Greens lacks in the customer service department.

This is the place where, after drinking 'beer' for 30 years, I finally discovered what real beer is and learned to love it. Their twice to three-times a week tastings regularly include brewmasters from the best regional and national breweries from the Southeast to Maine to Washington to anywhere that amazing beers are brewed. The brewers will spend all the time in the world talking to anyone who shows up. They recognize how special Greens is and actually listen to and stay in contact with the customers they meet And these brewers often bring special batches unavailable anywhere else in the world just for the incredibly lucky folks who know and love Greens and attend the tastings. Their 24 tap growler station fully rotates more than once a week, and the Beer Gurus Wes and Joseph never fail to guide and teach beer lovers of all tastes and experience. They'll even change out a tap on request if they have a special beer in the cooler if you simply ask if they have it. Greens has stoked the fire for beer lovers in South Carolina. And thanks to their innovation and effort several spectacular breweries have blossomed across South Carolina and in Columbia making the area a virtual beer heaven.

Note: I tried to keep this review low-key and held back on how I really feel for this place!

Green's on Piney Grove is the best place for purchasing beers in the city, probably one of the better spots in the state. They get lots of great stuff in, sell it at a good price, and acquire many rare brews, to boot.

Recent improvements (to an already great store) include a Belgian beer cellar, and a 24-tap growler fill station. They keep tons of premium stuff on the growler station and are constantly rotating selections. They also have tastings Thursday & Friday nights, often featuring rare kegs, brewery tap-takeovers, and free glasses w/fill.

Wes and Sierra are fantastic beer geeks who take good care of their customers. A few cashiers there don't seem to care, but otherwise the service is great and there is always at least one personable and caring cashier on duty.

Green's is a great place to go for anybody that appreciates beer! The whole staff is very knowledgeable and always provide ample service. The eight tap growler station provides several unique opportunities to try different brews. Thursdays and Fridays are two great examples of how unique Green's is compared to other beverage shops. The prices are actually better than any where else in the state. I often travel to Pawleys Island and find there to be an increase of $2-3 in price. When ever I head to the Piedmont region it's only about $1-2 more. However, they lie in the region in which Dogfish Head does not distribute (they do sell Dogfish Head in the Piedmont and Coastal regions). Green's still provides a high amount of unique brews. Definitely worth a visit if you're in the area!

The best shop in the Midlands. The guys who run the store are very knowledgeable and helpful. Best selection around, and an abundance of it. 8 taps for growlers, and great prices as well. They have rare beer Thursdays for the growler taps, and get lots of specialty barrel aged versions and limited releases. They always have the newest releases as early as anyone else, and have a better selection than the Greene's in downtown Cola. Would highly recommend this store, it is worth the trip if you are in the area.

Most massive beer store I've ever been to. To be fair, much of it are enormous palates of Budweiser cases.

But still, the craft beer selection is pretty vast. Roughly 4 aisles (so maybe 8 long shelf-walls) of unfridged bombers and the occasional sixers.

They carry pretty much every Trappist beer except the Westies. Hundreds and hundreds of great beers. Reasonable price.

The staff seemed somewhat knowledgable, but I didn't really talk to them enough to gather the extent of their beer geekery. The cashier was too lazy to put those little plastic fishnets over my bombers to prevent them from clinking/chipping the in the bag. Other than that, they seemed pretty nice.

Saw some glassware too, but didn't really check them out.

The place gets my high recommendations.

I've been going to the Green's on Piney Grove Rd. for quite some time now. Wes and Joseph have really worked hard over the years to transform this store into what it is today. They've got a growler station with eight taps which rotate often and tend to include a few rare kegs a week. They like to have brewery reps "take over" the station and host special events frequently as well, which they tend to sweeten with "double punches" on frequent growler fill cards. They also have a Randall (3.0) they pull out from time to time to put an interesting twist on the classics... sometimes it's organic whole cone hops that were grown locally in Columbia, sometimes it's Maraschino cherries and orange slices... these guys are the good kind of crazy.

The service at this store and the prices (almost always lowest in town/the state) are what brought me here years ago. The service and ever-growing solid selection are what have kept me. Barring recent distributor issues which are outside of Green's control, the guys at Piney Grove succeed at bringing in new domestic and international (particularly Belgian) brews as well as keeping the classics well stocked. Kudos to Wes and Joseph! If you live in the Midlands or happen to be passing through, make time to check out the Piney Grove Green's!

Reasonable prices/selection!

The staff here is pretty knowledgeable and helpful although I caught some lip from the Wine guy at the growler station just giving me a hand, at one time...but thats another story.

Bring cash or disclaim your card is debit for the cash prices at the register.

Usually there is at least 1 or 2 good offerings at the growler station for quart to half-gallon fills and usually are reasonably priced.

There is a cold cooler for the green's on assembly street where much import beer is located, also the premiums, and the piney grove store has a heap of goodness just on the sales floor @ room temp.

Everyone is willing to help, the seem to know much of the subject or they find whoever does.

Basically, you cant go wrong up in here give or take a dollar here and there at the surrounding beer stores...

hit em up!

This store was the saving grace of the last leg of returning from the beach in NC on our way to GA. The kid was screaming in the back seat and thanks to a couple of BA's (urbancaver and arvjunk) was able to get directions to this southern gem.
The atmosphere was of a alcoholics dream land. Rows and rows of booze. Mostly BMC stacked up in the front of the store with a wall of lined up coolers. After a second, I noticed the shelves of beer and skipped my way over to them.
At first glance my thoughts were "holy fudge, there is a lot of Imports, where the hell is the local loot" then I took a step past the first two aisles and saw the next three. There they were, 4 aisles of great stuff. I was able to find a beer for a trading partner that I have been trying to get for him for months. So very happy with the selection.
As far as service, didnt need any, didnt ask for any, didnt get any. The lady checking me out was courteous and pleasant. The prices to me were in line with other stores of this magnitude.
Will definitely seek this store out again whenever I am any where close to in the area.

Green's has been my go-to spot for all my beers needs since moving to SC 4 years ago. They have a very knowledgeable staff that can help direct you whatever style of beer you may be looking for. They have an awesome 8 growler station with taps rotating every week, the selection of bottled beer is massive and with new arrivals every week can sometimes be hard to keep up with. No matter where i have traveled I have not found a beer store that can match the selection or quality of people that Green's Piney Grove has to offer.

Can't really say enough about these guys. Love this place!

Located off the Piney Grove exit off of I-26, this is my favorite location and by far the best in Columbia.

Being a relative noob to the craft beer scene, Joseph and Wes have been extremely helpful in answering my questions, guiding me towards the beers I like, despite my lack of experience in beers to compare to.

They have a great wine selection, which takes up one side of their store, but the other side is all beer and it is a beautiful thing. Lots of singles, foreign and domestic, sixers, whatever you're looking for....really great selection for a beginner into this (almost too much) but it's really opened my eyes to several delicious beers and styles.

...but the gem here is the growler station. They have 4 taps currently (another station going in this week, I believe, bringing the total to 8 taps!!) and the kegs they get in are from local breweries, as well as all over the country, and cross the gamut in styles. I look forward to getting the weekly email from Joseph, letting us know what is coming to the growler station, what the "Rare Keg Of The Week" (that never makes it that long) is, and what swag or reps will be there. They have tastings on Thurs and Fri, and often have reps in the store as well. I've personally met with the Bells and Stone reps the last time they were there and enjoyed the chat.

Long story short, great location, awesome staff...if you're looking for beer, come in and ask for Wes or Joseph. They always seem to be there and are more than willing to help you out.

I have visited this Green's location a few times in the past while traveling through the Columbia area and just have never gotten around to giving them some review love! Great selection and I always seem to be able to knock a few beers off my wants list with each visit. Store is very clean and organized and they seem to employ a very knowledgeable staff. The local beer geeks have a hot spot in their backyard and I would recommend any out of towner's swinging through Columbia make a quick pit stop!

Easy access from I-26; this store sits on an unattractive parking lot almost on the interstate. Warehouse atmosphere.

This is by far the best Green's as far as beer selection I have ever been to, including 2 stores in Atlanta and one in Greenville SC.

In addition, they sell and fill growlers. About 4 taps but interesting and varied selections when I've checked.

Lots of variety in cold 6- and 12-packs in the back.

Huge international selection of singles, including many top 100 beers. Some BA and Rate Beer evaluations posted on the shelves. Nicely organized. Exceptionally friendly, helpful and knowledgeable worker there during my last visit.

This is my favorite store in Columbia. I visit here everytime I am in the area. They are one of the only retailers, maybe the only one, in Columbia to offer growlers of beer.

The staff are generally knowledgeable and accomodating. BA member khiasmus works there and I tend to chat him up on my visits.

Selection is great. Today, I purchased some really fresh Sculpin as well as one of the Terapin side projects and a growler of OBP Toasted Coconut Porter. The growler station is hit or miss, in my opinion, but just having the option is always nice.

I have been coming here for years and love this place. If in Columbia, one should certainly check this place out. Anything available in SC will be available here.
