On a recent BC vacation, oour first stop was in Vancouver, and our hotel was across the street. We used this as our first night's dinner after a long travel day.

Very much a sports bar/pub vibe, with lots of young adults having happy hour or starting out for the evening here (it was fairly early). The Canadian Football League had their Friday night game on the several TVs around the central bar, and life was good.

Beer selection was decent- as I don't know BC beer, I couldn't judge whether the selection was good or not, but there were a number of new things to try, which made me happy. A medium sized list of bottled beers from around the world too.

Service was good, and food wasn't anything spectacular or unusual, but decent and enjoyable.

Worth stopping by if you are in the neighborhood, but not worth going out of your way.

After spending the afternoon of our first day in Vancouver walking around Stanley Park, my wife and decided to take a rest and have a beer. We walked Robson for a bit and stopped into the Fogg 'n Suds. It's on the second floor of a building, so not really visible from the street. I wasn't really a fan of the atmosphere here, as I thought it lacked any real character and seemed pretty generic. We sat at the bar and it did seem to take a while for the bartender to give us the beer list. The list was extensive, but was mostly bottles from around the world. The tap list did not feature as many BC beers as I hoped for. I had a pint of the Howe Sound Nut Brown Ale, and my wife had a bottle of an English style Porter from a local BC brewery which was pretty tasty. Beer prices were on average with the rest of the city. A decent place to stop for a beer if in the area, but don't go out of your way to come here.

For shopaholics, Robson Street is the place to go in Vanocuver. For shopaholics who happen to also be alcoholics, there's Fogg 'n Suds. It's a little further west of "where the action is", and while the place is upstairs, signs are visible for the place on the street.

It feels like a resto-bar with a good view of the waterfront and Robson Street, depending on where you sit. The bar can seat around 15 people and is shaped in a semi-circle at one corner. Jays baseball on TV, beer memorabilia scattered on the walls...with few people inside around 3:30pm, I was comfortable to unwind without the crowd.

The beer selection takes the international route by offering beers from 25+ countries. 20 are on-tap, and about 100 in the bottle. Fruli, Delirium, Affligem, Phillips, Red Devil, and Erdinger are examples served on-tap, while the bottled selection offers good and bad; Hobgoblin, Caffrey's, Edelweiss Snowfresh, Brooklyn, Krusovice, Carib Lager, Brahma, Victoria Bitte, Kingfisher, and many more. The array of glassware available allows for proper presentation and serving of each beer, which I liked seeing, and I had no quality problems with my beer.

The service was fine, nothing more or less.

Fogg 'n Suds is a good place to drink on Robson Street. In fact, it's simply a good place to drink, but maybe a little out of the way if walking and the SkyTrain are your only type of transportation in Vancouver, and considering all the other options closer to the center.

Each time I am in Vancouver I usually find myself visiting the Fogg 'n Suds for a quick pint. Located on busy Robson Street, on the second floor. Large restaurant seating area, small patio outside, and I always seem to find room right at the bar.
About a dozen beers on tap with standards (Molson, Coors Light, Sleeman, Rickards), imports (Guinness, Kilkenny), and what I always look for - locals/craft (Granville Island, Okanagan). Also have in impressive bottled beer menu listed by country.
The service at the bar was friendly and fast. Pretty basic bar food menu (burgers, sandwiches, appetizers, etc). The deep fried shrimp with spicy Thai sauce were very tastey. Food is good, but nothing spectacular. Overall, an all around good place to go.

I've been to this place before when passing through BC on business. This time, I only had a brief night in Vancouver, so chose my hotel across the street so I could grab a quick brew.

The place is on the 2nd floor but very easy to find. Nice round bar with TV's in all directions. Decent sized place with limited seating outside.

About a dozen beers on tap [e.g. Granville Island hef, Stella, Guiness, Okanagan, Molson, Sleeman's, etc] and about 80 different bottled beer to choose from. I do like the fact that they have a separate beer menu that is broken down by country. Very convenient. For the beer on tap, you can order about 6 different size glasses, including a tower. So, depending on how thirsty you are...

The service at the bar was very good: quick and attentive. They served my Hef with a lemon wedge on the rim...which is much better than my pet peeve of having the lemon in my beer. At least I could remove it.

Food was sort of basic: burgers, soup, salad, pizza, nachos, chicken wings +. Pretty good beer food. I was still dazed from 12 hours in airplanes so I only had appetizers. The couple of things I ordered were [calamari and chicken wings] weren't that impressive.

Overall, a good place to go if you are in town and want to grab a quick bite and a good brew.
