The name Schild Brau means essentially 'Schild Beer' in German. This is our flagship brew, a microbrew done in the style of the special beers of Munich. This beer is brewed in the style of a Vienna Lager.
Our beer uses these same malts to attain a perfect balance between malty sweetness and a firm bitterness.

First had this Vienna Lager in 1985, at the source, just imbibed again and haven't rated it before, so here it is. Not much has changed with this beer in the 38 years it's been brewed. It's a solid Vienna Lager, nothing outstanding, but consistent through the years.

Found this in Iowa off of Interstate 80 on my way back east, as I hadn't had anything from Millstream in 15 (!) years. Don't come across this style often and this was an excellent take on it from start to finish. Balanced, malty, and oh-so-easy to enjoy, this had a nice body and flavor to it that could make this an instant classic!
Not surprisingly, this was clear, amber, and topped off with a wavy foam that unevenly subsided. Spotty suds were left behind as they completely covered my glass and left behind a few semblances of rings near the middle. Toasted, nutty malt filled the nose as the taste also had a hint of dark bread, raisin, and caramel in the taste. Not overly filling or cloying, this was quite clean and nicely carbonated without any sediment or overt hops to muddle it up.
As for the alcohol, I never felt it and I could have easily had the other can that was leftover after quickly finishing this off. No date was to be found anywhere as I would have loved to give this a go on tap. If you like Sam Adams Boston Lager (like I do!), you'll love this counterpart from the Heartland. Really well done here!

Look: Somewhat cloudy amber with a thin white head that dissipated quickly.
Smell: Pleasant blend of sweet (dark fruit notes) and sort of a "leafy," earthy scent.
Taste: Taste follows smell; sweet notes of cherries and grains up front followed by a more bitter aftertaste.
Feel: Normal carbonation, medium body.
Overall: Excellent brew!

There’s a reason why this beer is on tap everywhere, its a phenomenal contribution to the style. Gentle dark hue in color, malty back bone with a clean and perfected finish

From a bottle with a beer of the month club. Poured with a nice biege head of foam (just shy of 1") with a gorgeous honey golden body. Scent is quite on the maltier and sweeter side, with notes of toffee, dark fruits, and breadiness present along with a slight sweet spiced sensation (the description does this justice)! Taste has more of a caramel sweetness than toffee with just a touch of hop to counteract the sweeter flavors. Feel is medium bodied and very, very smooth. A very enjoyable vienna-style lager!

Poured from a bottle into a pub glass.
Pours crystal clear and light amber with limited head but persistent lacing.
The aromas are a simple but well-balanced delivery of caramel malt and grassy hops.
The brew is rather sweet on the tip of the tongue, with caramel malts. Fruity and bready yeast flavors in mid-stream, with white pepper and grassy hops at the end.
The brew is just short of medium and very well carbonated; quite drinkable.
Overall, a nice drinkable version of the style, although a shade sweet.

Poured from a bottle into a pint glass. Pours red orange with a small white head. Smells of sweet dark roasted grain, some fruitiness. Tastes of darker roasted grain with notes of caramel and very slight fruitiness standing out. Beer is light bodied and very easy drinking, good carbonation. Overall, a good beer.
