Style: Oatmeal Stout

Alcohol by volume (ABV): 6.70%

Availability: Year-round

Notes / Commercial Description:
The 'oatmeal' in the name is due the 5% oatmeal in the the grist of this brew. Oats give beer a real thick mouthfeel, something definitely desirable in a stout! Black malt and roasted barley give the beer its color, and coffee-like flavors. If you like thick full-bodied & smooth stout, this beer is for you!

nice overall stout. Not a big stout. Hop presence is very low giving it some sweetness. Everything you would want from a stout. There are better ones but this is much better than average.

Thanks to ketchepillar for this bottle through trade.
Pous a nice dark black with a lasting soft and creamy tan head. Smell is metallic, but nicely raosty and some ash, sweetness, and coffee as well. Taste is nicely balanced with coffee, soft oatmeal creaminess and a medium roastiness and light body. Drinks very easily, but not too thin, still. Pretty good, and I actually liked this one quite a bit more than expected. I felt it was pretty underrated.

A: Black in colour with a thick brown head. Decent head retention.

S: Some roasted characters come through but not much. A bit bland.

T: Very roasty, some chocolate malt flavours with a good bitterness. The beer is extremely clean with a crisps finish to the roastiness. I don't really get the oily/slick feeling from the stout, but it has a creamy flavour to it as well.

M: Medium body, a bit thin for the style

D: Very drinkable. The lager yeast really makes the beer more drinkable.

Welp, this was a nice sixer of a solid oaty. Not outstanding, but a very good drinker that would be nice in the DBF this coming winter.

The pour was always very good – dark ass brown/black with a frothy tan head and supportive lacing. Good smeller too – tons of chocolate bar with a marshmallow backing. Dry and crisp finish, nicely done.

Taste is where it wimped out a bit, solid Oaty of chocolate, coffee and malt – but on the weak side. Still decent and tasty. Good priced at $7.50 a sixer, drink ‘er down !
