Style: Oatmeal Stout

Alcohol by volume (ABV): 6.70%

Availability: Year-round

Notes / Commercial Description:
The 'oatmeal' in the name is due the 5% oatmeal in the the grist of this brew. Oats give beer a real thick mouthfeel, something definitely desirable in a stout! Black malt and roasted barley give the beer its color, and coffee-like flavors. If you like thick full-bodied & smooth stout, this beer is for you!

Typical stout roast aroma with a hint of berries. The berry doesn't come through nearly as much in the flavor, but it does help to add a fun little tang to it.

nice overall stout. Not a big stout. Hop presence is very low giving it some sweetness. Everything you would want from a stout. There are better ones but this is much better than average.

Bottle. Poured dark brown. Aroma was quite to style. A mixture of sweet, dark malt and drier roasted malts. Flavor had some sweet chocolate but also a percentage of semi-bitter, darker chocolate. Roasted malt and soft coffee. Doesn't have the same fullness of body as others of the style. Had some Brown Ale flavors and elements, too.

A: The beer is jet black in color. It poured with a quarter finger high tan head that died down, leaving delicate wispy lacing on the surface and a thin collar around the edge of the glass.
S: Light to moderate aromas of dark malts with bits of roast are present in the nose.
T: The taste has flavors of dark malts with notes of coffee, oats, and roasted malts.
M: It feels medium-bodied, smooth, and a bit creamy on the palate with a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: I found this beer to be rather easy to drink. The strong point of this stout is its smooth and creamy mouthfeel.

12 oz bottle, no date. Pours brownish black with a good-sized tan head. Smells of earthy hops and roasted malt. Subdued taste of light coffee, roasted malts, and hops, some citrus rind coming through. Medium body and average-high carbonation. Pretty good, but the smell and taste is too mellow.
