12 ounce bottle. Millstream Wheat Lager has very pale yellow color with some tiny suspended particles. No head. Clean malty aroma. Light hops. Not an intense aroma, but still good. The flavor is light with crisp wheat and some hop spiciness. Just a bit of citrus flavor. Finishes with a light honey flavor and more hops. Small bubble carbonation. Mouthfeel is light to medium. I enjoyed this beer. It's a good choice for when you want a simple, crisp lager.

Presentation: 12 oz brown bottle with what I presume to be a packaged on date on the side of the label.

Appearance: A thin lace is all that is left after a quick froth, great clarity yields a shinny golden hue.

Smell: Malty with a spicy wheat and hop mix, very clean as a lager should be.

Taste & Mouthfeel: Spice and soft fruit from the hops give a nice mild bite within the crispness, very malty with a clean and semi-dry palate. Light bodied with a perfect carbonation. Nice wheat malt twang in the finish.

Notes: Ultra refreshing, this is a hard labor beer … I crave a beer just like this after a hard days work.

Beer pours a filtered golden color with a quickly dissipating head. Lacing lasts throughout. A slightly grainy and hoppy aroma. Taste has a slight flavor of banana, hops are more prominent than typical wheat beers. Great carbonation and light to medium mouthfeel. I could drink these all night. This is not what I usually look for in wheat beers and am usually skeptical of american style wheat beers, but I really enjoyed this one and will be coming back to it again.

This beer pours a clear pale straw yellow color, with a very thin white head. The head fades very fast, leaving no lace.

This beer has a very mild, hard to pick out aroma. It smells very mildly spicy. A slight grainy aroma is also present. It reminds me of an adjunct lager.

This beer tastes like it smells. Very subtle. Some grains and spices come out but they are hard to detect, and harder to distinguish. It tastes slightly like an adjunct lager, but not as much as it smells.

This beer is crisp. It leaves a very mild spicy aftertaste. It is highly carbonated.

I think this beer might make a decent session beer. The low alcohol makes it easy to drink. I think it could have some more flavor though.

Overall: Thank you BuckeyeNation for giving me the chance to try this beer. I didnt hate it, but it didnt do anything for me. It just isnt my style. I guess I fall into the trendy category since I prefer more extreme beers.

Q. Is this an All malt Lager if it has Wheat? Confused on style.

Snow white, highly charged head over a pale gold body with fine carbonation.

Devoid of any particular Aroma.

The taste also is nondescript.. A light sweetness.

Clean, refreshing and decent mouthfeel- though that sounds like an American Macro.

Drinkable, not my favorite Millstream offering by a longshot.

A good pour brings a bad head...it just about disappeared as soon as the beer was poured. A glassy golden-yellow color with very mellow bubbles. Far from impressive-looking.

A sweet aroma brings grass/hay freshness, caramel corn and pear sweetness. Would be nice if the flavors came out more, you really have to pull it in to get anything, but what's there is nice.

The sip delivers a distinctive pear flavor with lingering sweetness in the finish...not exactly dry, not sticky either. The wheat comes through in a fresh, bready sort of flavor, and there's nothing here that's offending or "off". Really solid.

Mouthfeel is on the thin side, with moderate carbonation. Does well enough considering the style and its flavors.

This one wins purely on flavor, when you're in the mood for a lighter lager that doesn't resort to typical macro-lager weakness.

This one is about as ho-hum as possible. That being said, it is a great one to have in the fridge at all times. It is refreshing and couldn't be much more drinkable. It resembles macros in most ways, but has far more classic American "beer" flavor. This would be a great beer to start weening someone off Bud.

Sampled at the brewery. Thinking back, I believe this was the first microbrew I ever had, way back in the 1980's. Today's pour was a nice-looking, heady sample, with very little haze and a nice fizzy wheat flavor. Some breadiness and a citrus nose. An easy, pleasing beer.

Clear, golden in hue with no animation. A white head of a half a finger in height quickly faded to a bubbly collar. Frankly this beer is very ordinary to look at. A lack of head retention is concerning and there was no subsequent lacing. It can only get more exciting from here. The first whiff was nothing but a powerful blast of herbal potpourri and a kiss of lemon. I had to set my glass down and recuperate. The second whiff was malty, it reminded me of Cheerios. There were also some hints of wheat bread too and typical lager cleanliness, which is appropriate. The more I smelled the beer the more I liked it. The bouquet is nothing special but for a Pale Lager, I find it inviting. Modest potency. The palate is distinctly Millstream, every beer I’ve tried from this brewery has the same underlying mineraly-malty quality and this is no exception. Actually these flavors seem the focal point of this offering. Again I got the Cheerios taste, which is a good taste, albeit odd. Unlike the nose the Cheerios taste was accompanied by a nutty suggestion. The wheat imparts vague flavors and it is only found it the aftertaste; I assume it was really used as an adjunct to thin the body (and curb the flavor). If so, mission accomplished. The hopping is low and it is not bitter at all with only kisses of lemon. There is some sweetness that mingles well with stray grainy notes, hay too. The palate is unspectacular, frankly this was expected; as there is no doubt this beer was not brewed to bowl over the tastebuds. This is a lawnmower beer and nothing more. Pleasant enough. Medium/medium-light in body, low carbonation (yet another trademark of the brewery), the mouthfeel is ordinary, if not a bit watery. I guess this could be a product of the style. I have no qualms about this beer, the low abv and light taste lends itself to a good hot summer day beer. Why this is brewed year round is frankly beyond me. This is not worth seeking but there is no need to avoid it either. I acquired this sample at the brewery in Amana as part of a variety pack. You want the other three bottles?

Thanks go out to BuckeyeNation for providing me the oppurtunity to try this one. This beer pours a golden straw color, which was actually very clear for a wheat beer. I didn't pour it very vigorously, and found there to be no head to really speak of and no lacing at all.

Smell had a mild citrus aroma that I found to be very pleasant. Overall a light and somewhat airy feel to the aroma. I think this is one of the better 'American style' wheat beers. I generally find them to be fairly bland, but this one had a nice citrus flavor that was not overbearing. A fairly strong malty finish rounded out the flavor nicely.

The maltiness in the back of this beer gives it a heavier feel. It seems a little bit weighted down. Overall I found this to be a beer I could have drank quite a few of. I would definitely drink this again if I had the chance.

Thanks to hero27 for the beer.
Pours a straw yellow. No head or lacing. Some carbonation bubbles rose to the top.
The aroma is pleasent enough, but you really have to sniff hard to get anything. Smell is grainy with a hint of lemon.
This is a very refreshing beer. Grainy wheat bread. The hint of lemon in the flavor really adds a zest not often found in this style. I also get some gum flavors. Reminds me of Juicy Fruit.
Mouthfeel is thin and smooth. Par for the style.
This was a great refreshing beer to have after a softball game. Much better option than BMC, and a good cross-over beer.

The appearance is kinda crappy, the head is gone, the color doesn't seem consistant or appable.

The smell is a little sweet with a smell like lager and nothing else.

Taste hits like water and doesn't get any better. I don't think I'll even finish this, pretty dissapointing.

Mouthfeel has no carbonation that I can tell with my mouth, but there are a few little bubbles once in a while as you look at it.

I will never have this ever again.

The beer after its escape from the 12-ounce brown bottle sets in the glass a hazy golden amber color with a modest sized head that is bright white and spumous in texture, the lace a thin curtain to conceal the glass. Nice hint of wheat, sweet and fresh with the start somewhat sweet and a fair grain profile, the top is light in its feel. Finish is benign in acidity with the hops light but adequate for the style, a drinkable beer.

This is really nothing special. I just had a sampler glass while visiting the brewery. Tastes not an American Wheat but somewhat lighter. Tastes almost like your average BMC product. This could easily make for a session brew, though I would most likely choose something even a little heavier for a session.

Part of a sampler case, brought back direct from the brewery at Amana, Iowa.
Pours a straw yellow color, slightly hazy, with a thin white head. Fresh smells of wheat and some citrus and lemon. Decent pale wheat ale flavor, with citrus and nice wheat taste. Light body, well carbonated with a crisp finish. A great hot-weather, easy drinking brew.

Cloudy pastel yellow body with a quickly doomed white head. Aroma is light, mostly wheat, maybe a hint of hops, but little more. Has a noticeable bit of acidity, much like some witbiers, but I don’t know if this is what the brewer intended or not. It’s not off-putting or clashing with the other flavors, though. Bready wheat flavors are most of what I get although, I get a slight touch of grassy hops in the finish.

This beer poured a nice wheaty straw color with a nice white head that left a nice lace pattern on the glass, and the wheat smell was very nice. As for the taste there was a lot of carbonation bite. The mouthfeel was also mostly carbonation, this is a nice beer for a hot day. This is a very easy drinking wheat beer that doesn't really stand out, but it is good. I have other beers that are local that are as good or better.

12oz brown bottle, Feb notched on label.

Sparkling 18K gold. Noisy, fizzy head that sounds like soda. Bone white bubbles quickly build and recede, leaving a short ring. A handful of carbonation streams pierce the surface. Light caramel and wheat notes rise, but on the subdued side. The aroma is minimal. The taste starts with some light sweet malt and a touch of caramel which then gives way to a slightly fruity wheat component. The finish is moderately crisp and has a distinct lageresque tone. There is an apple skin note underneath it as well. The crispness lingers just a brief instant. Light body with just enough carbonation to keep it from feeling flat. Not bad, but not overly distinctive either.

Clear pale yellow with a thin white head. Wheaty, grainy aroma. Light grainy taste with no hop characteristics. Light bodied and crisp. There were no real outstanding characteristics in any direction, good or bad.

A decent refreshing American style wheat. Good summer time brew.

Chilled sample in pint glass. Thanks to bditty187 for the sample!
The beer pours a very clear gold with a soft bleached white head foaming up and fading very quickly.
Aroma is light and offers some caramel and a general light fruitiness with perhaps apple mixed in.
A very light body on the first sip, with fine gentle carbonation that offers only a very faint tactile presence.
Flavor is mild with some sweet wheat twanginess fading quickly to a clean sort of empty finish. Very smooth and easy to drink but a little boring. Nice to try it and would be decent at the beach or just on a hot day. Drink when thirsty not for complexity.

Package: 12oz. crowned brown “heritage” bottle; somewhere between a stubby and a longneck. Common “date scale” notched at January. No ABV information. Pleasant honey-colored label with grist mill logo.

Cost: Acquired via trade

Presentation: Shaker pint at ~45º

Appearance: A crystal clear, vibrant yellow with a touch of green apple. Generated a generous, but loose white head; that resolved quickly down to a floating skim.

Smell: Grainy and fruity and straightforward. Clean and crisp notes of malt and hops.

Taste: Light and sparkly, with green apple crispness, some sweetly cereal-like notes, and a faint spiciness. Some wheat-like flavors, but I’m not sure I’d have picked this out as a “wheat lager” if blindfolded. Finishes very quickly and cleanly.

Mouthfeel: Like the other Millstream beers I’ve had, this is on the watery side. It’s more apparent here than in the oatmeal stout, which offers more intense flavors. Carbonation is gently fine.

Drinkability: Easy drinking with an interesting, but diluted flavor profile. Interestingly, I liked some of the flavors in this more than some other wheat ales, but I just wanted more of them.

Backwash: I don’t know if I’d go out of my way to find this beer, but it’s a solid, enjoyable quaffer I’d be more than happy with if I were local.

yellow n' beery from a 12oz bottle. a steady but scarsely populated highway of bubbles. no head once the initial pour has left... some collection of foam around the edges.

smell is light but sweet with malt.. some tart fruit as well.. maybe fresh apple? light and interesting.

goes down real easy and tastes pretty good. big clean nuttiness makes up the majority of the flavor here. some lactose in the finish, as well as mild banana wheat and some lemon. overall lagery goodness though, and i wish i had three more. the best beer by far i've had from this brewery.

Small bright white head fades swifty to a ring. Slightly hazy straw colored beer with streams of carbonation bubbles shooting to the surface as some small clear floaties cruise around. Lightly sweet grain flavor up front. I'm not sure what is (I'd go with corn for no good reason), but the aftertaste really reminds me of Busch. Everything had me thinking light crisp beer, but it was body was pretty thick and the mouthfeel is a bit slick. Um....yeah....Busch, that's about it.

Nice golden amber color. No real head to speak of. Low aroma-some sweet, toasted malt. Mellow, malty flavor-while it doesnt stand out it has a nice, crisp, almost citrusy sort of tone. Decent body. A good beer overall-perfect for a hot summer day or a plate of spicy wings. Thanks buckeyenation.
