draught
Thin, off-white head. Very dark and barely translucent, chestnut brown look. Toasted wood and grain aroma, with a hint caramel and the toasted coconut, for the aroma. Medium light bodied. Moderate level of medium dark roasted grains and malt, some dark chocolate, the slightest hint of wood and coconut, for the taste. Finishes with a woody chocolate character.

Dark brown with a rich foamy tan head. Rich chocolate aromas, a hint of coconut. Rich dark malts. Taste is like a medium bitterness dark chocolate with a touch of coconut that lingers on the finish. There are some floral hops in their as well. Overall this beer is very chocolatey. If that is your thing you will like this, if you aren't a chocolate lover this one may not be for you.

On tap at a local taproom. Great nitro esque head, rich tan at the bottom that lightens up towards the crowd, great mahogany red color that is still a tad transparent. The nose is a strong cacao porter with a touch of coconut. Taste wise I get hops in the front, a touch of bitey licorice florals, with a middle rich in chocolate and roasted coffee, and a woody coconut finish that ends quite creamy and savory but not too sweet. The body is a touch thin for a porter, but it is crisp, and finishes mid-dry.
Great spin on a porter, and the chocolate and coconut is a good accent that doesn't overwhelm. Good fireside dessert beer!

Smell was chocolate and an off putting metallic tang. Taste was chocolate, roasty malt, and not much coconut.

Very dark brown with three fingers of tan head. Some splotches of lace.
Smell is toasted malt molasses coffee chocolate.
Taste is dark chocolate molasses some cherry coffee a hint of coconut.
Mouthfeel is light to medium with good carbonation. The finish is mildly dry and bitter.
Overall a tasty porter. Mine was about four months old.

Deep ruby brown body that catches corners of garnet in the light. Lighter than appeals to me for a porter, but not crazy. The head is gorgeous though in its silky ashy manilla self. Some larger soapy bubbles interspersed amongst the velvety foam. Decent retention. Minimal lacing, though.
Nose delivers on the promise of the label beautifully. Nutty toasty coconut husk and a rich rounded cocoa/fudgy chocolate run this.
Flavour also manages to deliver here, though slightly drier, less sweet and rich. Initially a high drinking chocolate note with a slip slide of toasted malts that melds directly to the nutty toasted coconut husk. Finish comes in with some nice coffee bitterness and nods towards the drier ashier side of porters/stouts, though is not without a little sweet bulge as well. I appreciate that this approaches the theme with nuance rather than just being a diabetes bomb of overwhelming candied coconut and sweet milk chocolate like a liquified mounds bar (I can get behind those too, but I get so tired of the 'just toss a bunch of sugar in there and the people will love it!' approach that seems so pervasive these days. It feels like the beer equivalent of a Michael Bay movie: a bunch of big loud noises without actually emotionally earning any of it... just all sizzle and no steak).
Body is smooth with a thin stickiness to it and heavy carbonation. Tastes like it could be a good couple of percentage points higher in ABV than it actually is, for which I ding it a little bit.
Overall glad to have finally pulled the trigger on one of these, and I love coconut, so I dig this.

Poured into a Pint Defiance tulip. The body is a dark brown with a finger tan head. Aromas consist of dark chocolate, fresh and toasted coconut, and coffee. Flavors are the same. Medium bodied with low carbonation.

A rich dark pour, not quite opaque. Dense head, slow to fade. Nose is dark chocolate, not too much else. Taste of chocolate again with a background sweetness from the coconut. Rich smooth, almost oily mouthfeel with a nice lingering finish. It took us a while to get to try this -- just short of a year, but the beer seemed to age well.,
