Pours opaque, black in color, with minimal head. Taste is cocoa, dark chocolate, and roasted malt. Medium-heavy bodied, sweet, and roasty. Above average stout that is tasty but nothing I would go out of my way for.

Vintage 2014 and could have sat another year or two. The nose and flavor have so much roast it's almost unbelievable. Chocolate, coffee and roasted malt for days. Easily one of the best lower ABV Imperial Stouts out there.

Black pour, almost 1" of tan head. Retention didn't really go as well as hoped. Aroma was roasty, but not much else.

A little bit of smoke, plenty of roast, a little bit of licorice/bitterness from the roasted malts. Its definitely not the best stout they make. This is more of a RIS version, not quite hitting the dark fruit bitter notes, this one supplants that with licorice and smoke. Lots of resiny viscosity.

Sampling a 22 oz bottle poured at cellar temp into a snifter. The beer pours a dark cola brown to black color with creamy dense tan head of 3 cm foaming up. The head fades slowly leaving some sticky lattice on the glass and a thick sturdy edge layer around the beer.
Aroma is rich and malty with dark chocolate and roasted malt mixing with some black licorice and dark fruit notes. Pretty complex and appealing nose, definitely hints of a heftier beer.
The first sip reveals a thick body with silky smooth texture and a very fine tingly carbonation. This is a nice sipping beer and even better on a cold winter evening.
Flavor is deep malty hits just as the nose advertised up front. Roasted malt, some dark fruit, plums, a bit of coffee and some licorice too. Pretty complex flavor profile but no hops and surprisingly not really any booze. No warmth on the swallow and no peppery hits either. A very drinkable beer for the 8.8% and the complexity.
Glad to have tried this and I would definitely pick up another bottle.

A thick, creamy, dark brown head lasts a long while before leaving a coating of thick lace on a Dogfish Head Snifter. This is another black Stout with no highlights.

Rich chocolate fills the aroma while roasted malt occupies the background. Warmth brings out espresso and molasses cookie.

The flavor profile is as expected from the nose. Roasted malt is balanced with sweetness. Attributes of chocolate syrup, espresso and light licorice are followed by a lingering, moderately bitter finish.

The body is full to medium with prickly carbonation and light alcohol.

This is a decent Stout, enjoyed on a quiet, snowy evening while listening to music.

Bottled
pure black body with light brown big frothy head
Aroma is just pure joy, it's like hot chocolate with a wee dram of good whisky
The flavour has the aroma & more, mix in expresso a hint of liquorice and plenty of rye like malt
and some pine
it's good solid stuff but not heavy
The tasty side of dark
