White waxed bottle, which seems to be an early 2014 release from what I've read. Tootsie Roll in both the nose and the front of the palate, every sip starting with that characteristically light milk chocolate flavor. On the whole, it's a well-balanced drink - the sweetness never overwhelms. This allows some substantial humidor, vanilla, and molasses notes from the barrel to come through as well, blending wonderfully with the creamy chocolate overtones. Brown sugar populates the back end, rounded out by a crisp toasted almond finish. About as close as I've come to a true milk-and-cookies beer - and it offers the palate even more with those woody barrel flavors. Delicious.

Appearance is very nice with a huge, long lasting, foamy, tan head, some lace, and an opaque brown black color. Aroma is mainly chocolate with a little roast, vanilla, and bourbon in the background. Flavor's like nose, sweet bitter up front, soft carbonic tang, bourbon clashes with other qualities in finish. Body is a bit soft. One and done.

Had on tap @ Capitol Beer and Tap in Sacramento, CA on 03/03/15

Appearance - Served up in a 12oz snifter with a thin, broken layer of cocoa powder colored surface suds. The brew itself is black with cola brown edging.

Smell - Predominant chocolate aroma that evokes images of moist chocolate cake with fudge frosting. Lovely.

Taste - Doesn't quite follow the nose, with earthen chocolatey flavor more akin to dry cocoa powder mixed with a smidge of baker's chocolate. Hints of roasted malt and a light touch of coconut, but this thing is all about the chocolate.

Mouthfeel - Full body with low to moderate carbonation and a dry, chalky texture.

Overall - Glad I tried it, but more glad I didn't drop a grip by buying this in bomber form. It's good, but a bit too much of a one-track flavor profile. Vaguely reminds me of the Boulder Shake Chocolate Porter, but considerably more expensive.
