Notes: For those seeking decadence and transcendence in a craft beer, we bring you The Chocolate Manifesto Triple Chocolate Milk Stout, a luxurious beer that demands to be shared among friends. With three kinds of chocolate, this beer is a euphoric detour from the mundane. Life is too short to brew beer that doesn’t matter to you.

L - pour is thick and meaty coming out of the glass. Dark paint brown with a burnt, crimson head. Not much in the way of lacing for a 10%-er.

S - huge nuts up front in my face. The biggest nuts. Milk chocolate and rust. Hershey chocolate syrup, cinnamon, and chocolate milk. Shameless chocolate. Smells like a bowl of halloween candy.

T - much roastier than expected. Was anticipating a milky lactose bomb, but I am pleasantly surprised by the balancing dark chocolate bite. Cocoa powder, milk chocolate, and vanilla sweetness. Fudgey chocolate malts and a touch of coffee a la bottom of the pot. Finishes a tad dry, begging another sip.

F - a bit thin for 10%, but mostly neutral. Doesn't help or hinder this beer. Low-medium carbonation; just enough to be lively.

O - insane chocolate flavor. One of the most chocolate-forward beers I've had. It's far from perfect, but it's fun and sure to satisfy that sweet tooth. But here's the thing, it's got a bit of balancing roastiness to nip that cloy in the bud. Saves that for the aroma!

750ml capped bottle into snifter. extremely illegible code on the bottle's neck

a: really dark brown, not black, with light brown head

s: massive creamy chocolate milk and maltesers aroma. some caramel, roasted marshmallow, and raisin notes. so milky and sweet

t: follows the nose but has bitter cocoa in it too. zero alcohol taste at 10% abv which is impressive

m: medium mouthfeel with low carbonation

o: absurdly sweet so it's not something some people will want to have in large quantities... i'm not one of those people because i had the entire thing to myself :D god it is delicious

Oh, I may stray, but I always return to my dark master... The cocoa bean! And only the purest syrup nectar can satisfy me - The Chocolate Manifesto is exactly that. It is so dark that light cannot escape its surface; an inky black liquid, it earns the rights to its title. Heck, even its head is the colour of chocolate milk.

Mayan and Aztec civilizations offered cocoa beans to the gods - they knew how to keep 'em happy (nevermind how things ended for them). But seriously, this bouquet is ambrosial and worthy of both royalty and divinity; it smells like a chocolate liqueur - rich and concentrated - and has an intensity that no chocolatier anywhere in Paris or London could imitate.

As advertised, the taste is that of fermented, roasted, and ground cocoa beans. It is an extremely, overwhelmingly, decadent chocolate flavour that will likely be too intense for some - I call these people wussies. It offers a ton of fudge-y chocolate flavour but also a ton of raw cocoa powder (this uses cocoa nibs as well as the powder, in addition to chocolate malt).

Chocolate Manifesto has a richness that makes chump-change out of anything Lindt, Godiva, or Hersheys has to offer. The use of lactose lends a bit of sweetness to counteract the heavy (almost espresso-like) roast and subtle smokiness of the beans. It has an oily texture that doesn't expose the 10% alcohol but hints at it. This was clearly designed by chocolate addicts.

I was hoping that The Chocolate Manifesto would be as good as last year's BNL Imperial Chocolate Stout (especially at $11.95/bottle). As far as I can tell it's almost the same recipe, which is perfectly fine in my books. Flying Monkeys stouts are the equivalent to ten of anybody else's - providing one of them isn't Southern Tier - and are well worth whatever the asking price. I'll be buying plenty more.

Short Review. This was nice and it was dominated by chocolate to make for a chocolate syrup like flavor and aroma, but it was pretty sweet and boozy, along with the lack of complexity it held it back a little, a little bit is enough for me, a full glass would be too much. I like it, but I'm not sure I would buy it.

Purchased 4/1/2015 from a new shipment and enjoyed 2/10/2016 in a stemless wine glass.

Look - Murky dark brown. Lacing is not as tall as expected when chug a lugging out of the wine bottle. Medium to fine bubbled tan head.

Smell - Maybe this is a little funky. Strawberry. Lightly sour. Milk. Chocolate. Nestle.

Taste - Coconut. Chocolate. Pineapple. Strawberry. Coffee.

Feel - Full feel. Puffy in the mouth but not overly carbonated. Not dry.

Overall - Strawberry and coconut. Not expected. It is nearly a year old. Puffy feel and the closest to chocolate milk feel I've had.

My next favorite Stout, the one of a kind Chocolate Manifesto. Loads of Chocolate taste and Malty feel. Might seem overpowering at first, just drink more!

S: sweet chocolate with some bakers chocolate mixed in.
T: holy chocolate! The most chocolate in a beer I've ever tasted. No alcohol and very sweet.
F: creamy, but not thick although he flavors last. Very similar to hot chocolate in that sense.
O: good beer that won't seek out again, but glad I got I got it.
