Smells great, hoppy, peachy, tropical. Grassy fruity hops to taste over top of gentle caramel malt. Got more bite from carbonation than expected, pretty sharp edged. Big head settle to s film, some early lace. Drinkable.

Pours hazed amber orange with a long lasting cap. The aroma is of light citrus and tropical fruit and some cookie dough maltiness. Bright, floral, citrusy hops in the taste are immediately overshadowed by bready, caramelly malt flavors. The nearly complete lack of bitterness really allows the malt profile to shine. Lightbodied mouthfeel with sparse carbonation. Off dry finish with some lingering floral hops and caramel malts.

Interesting no boil hops IPA. It lacks something without the bitterness though - it's not overly sweet, but not bitter enough. Worth a try for sure though.

473 mL can from the LCBO; can't find a date, which is atypical of this brewer. Served slightly chilled.

Pours a foggy golden colour, with two fingers of sparkling white, soapy, big-bubbled foam situated atop. It lasts for the better part of five minutes, leaving behind a modest swath of lace and a wide, frothy collar. Looks good, and the aroma is even better - it's fruity, with notes of pineapple, lemon and melon, as well as some herbaceous hops. Maybe a hint of stone fruit, too, with just a wisp of grain husks.

Tastes fine - somewhat distinct, even, as the hop forward flavour profile juxtaposed with the near total lack of bitterness is not something I've seen that often. Light, grainy pale malt sweetness provides the barest of scaffolds, with fruity elements of cantaloupe, lemon and apricot generating most of the action on the front end of the sip. The hop flavours become slightly more herbaceous and grassy at the finish, with a hint of melon rind failing to last long into the aftertaste. Light in body, with zippy carbonation that prickles the tongue and froths up a bit in the mouth, giving it a good, crisp bite that I found refreshing. An undoubtedly sessionable brew.

Final Grade: 3.93, a B+. The marketing droid copy claims that Theoretikal Zero was an attempt to make a session ale with 0 IBUs, which I suppose explains why I found this beer's flavour unique. I mean, it didn't blow me away or anything, but in all honesty very few session ales have ever managed to do that. Its pleasant, fruity hop flavours, low bitterness and high drinkability are enough to make this one of the better ISAs in Ontario at the moment, at least IMO. I'd take this over Genius of Suburbia any day.

Flying Monkeys rarely does anything earth shattering, and this is no exception. A decent session that hits some good notes, especially on the nose, and then just fades into the shadows.

For a DDH beer, I am not getting a ton of hops, which has me disappointed. Still it's a decent session that just needs a bit more kick.

Pours a slightly hazy uniform straw/amber colour. The particulate, while small, is visible & is a slight bit larger than I'd expect. Lacing includes some nice white sheeting while drinking. Aroma offers a bit of citrus; quite mild. Taste is pleasant enough with some mild citrus, floral & grassiness, and light malt, but as with many sessions, it's just not got enough flavour; mouthfeel is lightish and somewhat watery, & carbonation is a little too bright.

Review from notes. 473 ml can purchased for $3.15 CDN and served cold into a pint glass.

Appearance - Mildly hazy beer with a bright golden color. A big plume of three fingers of fluffy white head with very good retention.

Smell - Mild overall, lightly earthy with some leafy hop aroma. A touch of lemon and other citrus.

Taste - Light and hrainy with a cantaloupe sweetness. Follows with some mildly bitter rind and earthiness. Finishes with a subtle bubble gum sweetness that is either an extension of the cantaloupe or something unique. Made me think hefeweizen /kristalweizen / IPA hybrid for a few moments.

Mouthfeel - Light bodied, soft carbonation and easy to drink.

Overall - Pretty decent little IPA, with promotional material indicating it was the intent to make it with zero IBU's. Interesting beer and cantaloupe was a welcome change to the IPA scene.
