Post EBF bottle shopping :)

Smallish place but brightly lit from the outside. Everything is neat but this store has only the basics in selection and is nothing compared to others in the area. Lots of Lagunitas, Stone, etc.. but if you want to find something a little off the beaten path, go elsewhere.

Stopped here on a business trip. My whole mission was to get the Harpoon Glacier Wet Hop beer. We searched and found this place so we cabbed over to it after a dinner at the Cambridge Brewing Co. Loved the fact that they had bombers of Harpoon and Stone as well as a few Belgians. The worker/owner was very pleasant and we enjoyed talking to him. This will definitely be a stopping point next time I am in Boston. We stayed in the Cambridge area and this was one of the closest beer stores in the area.

A co-worker and I were in town on business hunting for beer (Stone & Harpoon) that we can't get back home (Milwaukee). We were only there for a short time (cab meter was running) but was impressed for the selection of imports and micro brews. The clerk was very nice and had a lot of knowledge of the beer. He even ran in the back to grab some extra bombers after we cleared out the ones in the cooler. Great place for the business traveler to find some local and out of home market brews. Combo of and helped us find the place.

Just wanted to throw my 2-cents in...

I'm so glad I've had this place as my local for the last year. 3 blocks away from my apartment, this little gem has a surprising collection for a working class neighborhood.

It's got all the basics, a good sampling of top quality domestic microbrews, and top-notch European selections. Not exactly an un-ending supply and variety, but if you are in this neighborhood you'd have to hoof it quite a bit to find a place with quality, quantity, and variety.

My best find here was Old Chub cans. They even have a number of different Weyerbacher brews which is from right near my hometown (if only they could get Yuengling!). Throw in some Indian, Haitian, Czech, Greek, and Turkish beers that you've never heard of but are surprisingly good and this is a great little gem for experimenting. Granted the prices for these imports usually run from $9-12 for a sixer but usually it's worth it.

The place is awash in BA shelf talkers so I trust them. If the young(ish) guy, the son of the owners I think, is working, which is most of the time, ask him for help. He's friendly, pretty knowledgeable, and has never steered me wrong. This is the place I'll miss most when I move to East Boston at the end of this summer.

Jerry’s liquors is located on the one way street, Somerville Ave, in the heart of Union Square Somerville. A small store with 2 long coolers along the outside walls. There’s a wine case on one side of the store and metal shelving with liquors located throughout the center of the room.

There are about a dozen beer cooler doors with one case dedicated to singles. One side is pretty much macro and malternaland, while the other side focuses on crafts, micros and imports. It starts simple enough with all the standard imports and local micros with seasonals: Sam, Harpoon, etc. Where it gets interesting is that hey have almost all the Dogfish heads, Stone, Avery 6 packs, some more obscure locals like Tuckermans as well as most Unibroue 4 packs. The singles case is also split. Marco singles and 40’s dominate, but they also always have a nice selection of Belgian and Unibroue 750ml’s, and for some reason always seem to carry both Stone Arrogant and Double Bastard.

The rest of the store is actually pretty nice as well. A decent but small wine selection as well as a quite impressive array of boutique and more obscure liquors mixed in with all the standards.

Not the greatest liquor store in existence, but really a nice, very BA friendly, session beer stop in Union Square.

Feb 2006 Update...

This place has been growing by leaps and bounds. They now carry a wider selection of craft brew. On top of that they've been going crazy using BA shelf talkers. Someone at the store must be a BA or BA fan, cuz their beer has gotten even better. Rodenbach, more Stone and Victory, Unibroue, Berkshire, Middle Ages 6'ers, Jolly Pumpkin, etc. Definetly worth checking out.
