Brought a can of BlaGul back from my trip to Sweden. The can will look good in my collection....the Swedish crowns are sweet. The beer pours golden and clear with good carbontation that forms a thick white head. Both the head and carbonation dissipates over time. There wasn't much lacing. The smell was typical of most Euro beers...grainy with saaz type hops. The taste follows the smell....strong watery grain with some hop balance. The mouthfeel is fine....as mentioned....typical Euro beer...fairly easy to drink. Overall its fine.

A: This beer pours golden with a nice thick creamy white head. Dissipation is mediumfast and leaves some lacings.
S: Faint; sweet malt with loads of corn. Kind of metallic/artificial.
T: Faint; sweet malt with some corn. Bready almost doughy. Faint bitter hops.
M: Aftertaste is short. Moderate carboantion and medium body.
D: Another Swedish macro-beer you probably should avoid.

Thanks go to Johansson oct det Starka Bandet ( http://www.johanssonochdetstarkabandet.nu/ ) for this gift after a recent show in my town.
Poured into 10oz glass. Poured a surprisingly rich dark honey/light amber (much darker than I expected from a Pale Lager) with a tall, fluffy white head that had very good retention, but minimal lacing.
The aroma was sweetly grainy, without a noticeable hop presence. The taste was fairly benign, a bit sweet, a bit grainy and a touch funky (perhaps from riding across the ocean in a bass players suitcase?).
The body was, while light, surprisingly full and well-rounded. Drinkability was OK, I could see having several of these while in a Swedish sauna.
Overall, not a great beer by any means. But this is a decent little brew and if you get the chance to try it, you should. Don't have your expectations too high, and approach it for what it is, and you'll enjoy it.

Served from a 500 ml can into a pint glass.
This is not a good lager at all. Pours a light golden color with a lot of carbonation. A bland mix of very light malt along with a bit of bitter hops. The one thing it's got going for it is the 5.2% ABV. This has got to be Sweden's version of a more alcoholic Bud.

This beer was the second most sold strong beer in Sweden in 2004 (#23 in 2003). When it was introduced in the mid-90s, it was the first low-priced strung beer in Sweden, and thus changed the way people selected their beer.
The colour is gold; the airy white foam sinks down to a minimal lid.
The smell is mild with some diacetyl and some hazelnut-like malt. No bitterness at all.
And the taste This is simply not a good lager! The malt is, ehhh, fuzzy with an almost chaotic blend of salty, bready, sour and sweet notes that doesnt match. There is just a hint of bitterness somewhere. The aftertaste is a bit salt and sweet with some artificial almond-like flavour.
The carbonation is rather mild with medium-sized bubbles.
