Jet black color, more thick viscosity, tan clumpy head that is champ of retention and stickiness. Aroma was plenty of whiskey, soft charred roast, chocolate malt. Leather and oak show up like its a tree sex party.

Taste is so chewy, absorbs the alcohol for you, whiskey is in a supporting role. Faint honey and vanilla. Caramel present like a boozy cracker jack, mouthfeel amazing that in a SRM this deep, it allows toffee and caramel to come through even through the whiskey and smoke. Amazing stuff, amazing circumstance, I kind of hate that I liked it so much.

A big thanks to Dan for this one. Served in a snifter. Reviewed from notes 10/7/14

Pours minimal head. Beer is pitch black and opaque. Lacing is spotty and sparse but the legs are slick, oily, and coat the glass nicely.

Aroma is a roasted malt, smoke, chocolate, sweet soy sauce, prunes and peat. Robust and very unique.

Opens sweet soy sauce, prunes, raisin, and other dried dark fruit. Notes of chocolate, roast, cocoa and peat emerge towards the middle complemented by a distinct anise, wood and tobacco flavor. Really unique and nicely complex.

Medium bodied with low carbonation. Slick and smooth in the mouth and silky going down. Moderately clean finish with a slightly lingering aftertaste.

A good beer but one that you have to go into with a certain mindset. Unlike any other imperial stout I've ever had and certainly worth trying.
