bark from Sweden
4.07/5 rDev +1%
look: 4.5 | smell: 4.25 | taste: 3.75 | feel: 3.75 | overall: 4.5
The colour is black with a brown edge, the remarkably high foam is airy and beige. It sinks slowly leaving thick lacing on the glass.
The smell is bitter and roasted. Citric fruits and peels, spicy Coca Cola flavours. Hints of toffee and black currants. It is highly balanced and smooth.
The taste is hoppy with slowly growing bitterness. Roasted (but not burned) notes in the background. Lemon/lime, orange peels, chocolate toffee and a touch of vanilla. Medium body. Growing clean sweetness in the aftertaste as well as smooth clean bitterness, charcoal, exotic fruits and ripe plums. Creamy finish with some black malt and alcohol in the finish.
The carbonation is medium strong, the small bubbles smooth and short-lived. The liquid is a bit dry.
A solid black hoppy ale, that is not just a overly hopped stout.
