Pours out the palest crystal faint straw color imaginable to man and sits a cloudy, light golden yellow in the glass with a good sized white frothy head, fading slowly to a light skim.

Smells of crisp wheat and honey. Thick saltine, crackery aroma with a bit of yeastiness. Faint aromas of grapes, orange and lemon.

Tastes malty up front with an increasing sourness, lemon oriented. Yeasty in the back of the mouth with bits of orange peel and Sour Patch Kids thrown in the mix. Hop bitterness balances out the malts quite well. Finish is refreshingly bitter with a lingering spiciness with a swirl of yeast mixed in.

Crisp yet smooth in the mouth with tact carbonation; nothing strong nor faint...quite good. Body is light enough for the style, but isnt' watered down at all.

Just a bland wheat beer IMO. Flavor profile is very similar to that of Viking's beers up in Dallas. Not very impressive, but not horrible.

The Whitetail Wheat is a decent offering from Northwoods....I would put it on par with Boulevard Wheat. The beer poured a slightly hazy with thin white head that is leaving some lace. The scent carries biscuit or bread tones. The taste is a slightly spiced wheat/grain. The mouthfeel is lighter in body with good carbontation. Overall, this is a good wheat and should be enjoyed by all.

Reviewed from session notes.

A. Clouded dirty-looking pee gold color with a scummy foam layer and minimal lacing only. Not a particularly pretty beer.

S. A brief mild hit of lemon pledge over the top of heavily buttered whole wheat crackers.

T. Some cardboard oxidation, some musty wheat chaff with a sprinkle of nutty flavor and grassy herbal hopping swimming in a bit of butter and some skunk, especially in the finish.

M. Smooth texture, medium body and carbonation levels.

Appearance: Pours a very clear, pale gold body a thin, white ring of bubbles.

Smell: Beyond the lemon and butter, there's only a meager amount of maltiness to the aroma.

Taste: Faint malt flavor with an impossibly thin hint of lemon. But a lot of butter in there, though! That's one thing they don't skimp on. There's a light grassy bitterness on the finish.

Mouthfeel: Medium-thin body. Medium carbonation. Slick, though watery mouthfeel.

Drinkability: All of the Northwoods beers seem to fall far outside of even the loosest definitions of the styles they're trying to represent.
