Uggghh... personally I don't this place deserves a spot in the BA Beerfly directory especially referencing this to some other awesome spots listed here.

Atmosphere and space are average. There is a "sports bar" type of area that you enter into (multiple TVs) and then another kind of chill bar off to the side. Place is done in metal and other slightly unique design.

Selection was far from writing home about. They have a few interesting things but nothing rare or terribly original. Allagash and Bell's Oberon. Sprecher and New Glarus Spotted Cow but it seems like finding either of those in Wisconsin is beyond easy.

Service was terrible. Despite only about 15 people off in the corner taking it easy, the place was mostly empty. The bartender seemed less than interested in helping us despite being the only active customers waiting to be served.

Wouldn't come back unless they had AMAZING food and even then I probably wouldn't drink here.

With a name like Wicked Hop, well I was hoping for some big hops in the land of German style brews. Boy, was I disappointed.

Located in/near the Third Ward, you run a chance of being surrounded by Riverwest/East Side alterno-grunge-hipster types that have some artistic ambitions and a trust fund, but the generic sports bar atmosphere tends to keep their presence to a minimum most of the time. Small plate dining ugh, so much of that in the Third Ward, at least this place serves decent pub grub (a Milwaukee specialty it seems) surrounded by wood, typical for a little more upscale place.

Taplist is mostly Wisconsin stuff, which is nice. Guinness, Harp, all the faux quasi craft stuff, no hard to find or excellent stuff here.

Been in this place many times just never reviewed it. Well I found myself here for a drink recently so here goes.

Dark sports bar atmosphere. Modern industrial styling. Bar to the left tables to the right. Along with another bar. Both were packed. After waiting for a bit we finally squeezed in towards the bar and ordered a couple beers. Modest selection of Midwest craft. I had an Alpha King. They do serve a house beer called Poison Arrow which is just Lakefronts IPA. A handful of imports to round things out.

The beers were served cold and in full pints. Full to the top. Which is sometimes annoying. We didn't have any food on this occasion but I have had apps here before and they were decent.

Overall a decent place to watch the game and grab a craft tap.

This was my second time in here. First time sober. As you come in, it seems rather small. There is a table-deep balcony on the left with some tables underneath. To the right are bar tables and the bar. It was packed...for the game I'm sure.

Is there more to this place? I didn't ask or look. Oh well.

I plopped at the only open spot on the bar next to two girls chatting it up with an incredibly drunk (for 6:45) dood who looked like a hobo.

I was instantly served but with a terrible pour. At least it was fast? Oh well.

The interior is a hodge-podge of random shit all over the place. The walls are exposed brick, windows, and the ceiling is all bare wood trusses. Not bad, but nothing really appealing about the vibe of the place save for this little hammered copper trough below one set of taps.

Most of the bottles were BMC stuff but there was the occasional gem stuck in there. Chimay blue, Delerium, Dirty Bastard. Not too bad. As far as the taps, there was Lakefront which is always good and something else I don't remember but it appeared as if there were only 8 taps. That kinda puts the name of the place to shame.

There is also smoking in there making it hard to truly enjoy a beer or food. The beer I got was the Wicked Hop exclusive Poison Arrow IPA by Lakefront which was fresh. Not really worth going there for but it was only $4. Not bad for a beer downtown.

Don't know if or when I'll be back.

The name sets this place up for disappointment. While this place is immensely popular for some reason, it is far from being a good beer spot. There are some more expensive beers here, but nothing anyone on this site would be very excited about. "Oooh, Oberon on tap - I’m coming here everyday!" If this wouldn’t be your reaction, you could probably pass on this place and not miss much.

There are a handful of taps, and while they don’t have Bud Light on tap, they also don’t have anything good or rare enough to get all excited about. The bottle list was larger but my reaction to it was much the same as it was to their tap list.

The food here is decent for lunch (burgers and sandwiches), but it is a bit overpriced for what you get. Going here with friends and co-workers beats going to Chile’s (from a beer and social perspective), but I’m still not calling it a beer destination.

This place frustrates me. Every time I think they're on the verge of becoming a decent beer bar, they backslide. The atmosphere is great, a loft-like space, lots of brick and exposed beams, bordering on pretentiously unpretentious, but I like it. (The Kobe beef hamburger is reason alone to come -- it's incredible.) But the beer selection screams "craft beer bar wannabe" -- generally mediocre pale ales, a few passable lighter Belgian styles, and of course they had some of the limited but amazing run by Leinenkugel's Big Eddy Imperial IPA. The only really above average beer they have on an on-going basis is Founder's Dirty Bastard. None of the waitstaff is particularly knowledgable. I really want to like this place, and I keep hoping, but ... we'll see.

This was in a nice corner location at Broadway and St. Paul Street and they had a good bit of outdoor seating, especially under their awning along the front on Broadway. The front was lots of high glass panes, allowing for ease of viewing both in and out. Entering the two center double doors, there was a slight incline with the “L”-shaped wood and epoxy/amalgam composite bar to the right. The kitchen was directly aft with the washrooms to the left of the kitchen, just before the stairs headed to an upstairs seating area.

The draft beer selection was so-so and consisted of New Glarus Spotted Cow, Bell’s Oberon, Lindeman’s Framboise, Hacker-Pschorr Hefeweizen, Stella Artois, Guinness, and Brother Damien’s Belgian Wit. My server needed prompting to show me the bottled beer list, then informed me that they had “phased out” my first choice – Three Floyds Alpha King. When he opened my second choice, Bell’s Two Hearted Ale, it began to foam and he poured out the foam. Aarrgh! When I asked for a glass, he handed me a tiny ten ouncer and my withering look caused him to ask, “Or perhaps a pint glass, sir?” A slight nod on my part, followed by a resounding mental “Duh!” The waitstaff all seemed a bit inexperienced. The whole place left me feeling very underwhelmed.

I still have a few places left to check out on my next visit to MKE, but the bottom line is that Mike Romans needs to open his place earlier than 1700, daggummit!

Rather trendy-styled place in a remodeled old industrial builidng. A lot of pretty people but the beer was not the main focus.

Had a rather mediocre wheat beer with sort of indifferent service.

Only four taps in the bar we visited and five in the "back bar". Pretty limited for a place trying to promote "craft beers".

I had the Bell's Oberon which was a disappointment. My buddy had the Hacker-Pschor Hefe-Weizen which was excellent.

Did not try the food.

A lot of hot looking ladies in the place, pre-happy hour on a Friday.

Good prices, before the big rush.

Located on the northern end of the Third Ward and in the shadow of the new Miwaukee Public Market (it's across the street), The Wicked Hop is a small trendy bar, featuring a decent amount of micros and what appeared to be an intriguing food menu (we didn't eat here though). We stopped here after having dinner at the Milwaukee Ale House. We had parked on Broadway and The Wicked Hop was a block north of the car, so we decided to check it out.

It's a fairly small bar, with restaurant seating upstairs on the left side of the building. Tall tables and chairs are in the middle with the bar along the right side. There were a couple of seats open at the bar near the kitchen side, so we decided to sit there. It's beautiful bar, with poured concrete and the Wicked Hop logo (devilish figure on a cliff with the crescent moon encircling him) laid in brass on the concrete. The bar behind the wall has a nice size flatscreen (the Milwaukee Bucks were on) and at the top has metal-sculpted flames jutting out. Uneven Cream City brick surrounds the liquor shelves in the middle beneath the TV. Ceiling to floor windows give you a great view of the outside.

Nice beer menu. Harbor City in Port Washington brews their "house beer" called Father Damien's Wit. I tried that first and it was okay, but nothing special. They stocked various other micros, such as Bell's, Dogfish Head, Anchor Steam, Rogue and Sierra Neveda. Local Wisconsin micros were New Glarus Spotted Cow, Sprecher, Lakefront, and Oscar's Chocolate Stout. Imports were pretty standard, 'cept for Delerium Tremens, which was nice to see.

The service was decent and the atmosphere, although crowded, was cool. I believe they have a wings special during one of the weeknights that I wouldn't mind checking out or stopping in for a regular bite to eat. One of the cooler bars in the Third Ward.

A nice enough neighberhood pub in Milwaukee. The atmosphere is fine, very straight forward with dark wood and a nice sized bar of wood. The quality of the brews was fine and the service was fast and friendly enough. Selection was just OK, with one special beer brewed for them, and New Glarus spotted cow on tap. Guinness, and one or two others were on tap as well. A nice enough place to run for a quick one or two. Not really a killer beer bar, but i'd say of 6 or so taps 4 are micros, so not bad! Bottles seemed lacking, but I didn't ask to see a list, I just peeked into the coolers...
