The other review is severely outdated sadly. Big nope on this one.
The best beers here are Goose IPA and Boulevard Wheat, everything else is macro.
Frozen pints and no coasters = a wet mess of a bar.

Nice view of the lake, and an ok bartender, but besides that it was utterly forgettable.
Cher dance mixes pumped in over a loudspeaker kind of summed up the generic resort bar vibe.
Everything about this place felt generic and impersonal.

Won't be returning. Horseshoe Bend is the local microbrewery right down the street if you're in the area. Pappo's in Osage Beach runs circles around this place beer-wise. Tap & Grill Lakeside is another option on the other side of the lake.

A beautiful 70° mid winter day in the Ozarks and what can you do. Help a buddy pull his 40' 500hp inboard to the Lake of the Ozarks and run from the State Park ramp 35 miles toward the dam to ToadCove. Having the lake to ourselves we still drink responsibly when boating. Blowing by the mile markers we pull up and park the boat in a empty marina that "fat cats" in quarter million dollar boats will pay $500 - $1000 for you to pull out of this party area so the can park and party.

Place is preparing for the new season and my buddy Dan explains that the food is good - but fresh sea food in Midwinter season is more that I hoped for. There menu is on their web site http://www.toadcove.com and if you check their history you will find they are very sucessful with their 2 Chefs and multi resturants. When my smoked grouper sandwitch quickly arrived on a plate looking like it was made for a cover shot on a gourmet magazine I had just completed huffing hop aroma off the well poured full pint of Boulevard Pale Ale and was taking my first few sips. They offered 3 Boulevard's on tap with a half dozen of the usually suspects - Bud, Miller, Guiness etc etc etc) I ask about bottled beer and was told they keep 20 or more bottled varieties. And are expecting to offer a wider and wider selection.
I savored my KC microbrew and excellent sandwitch with fresh homemade slaw and looked at the single red cigarette boat tied at the lakeside docks, promised myself to stop by again when I am not pulling a boat down winding Missouri back roads.

At The Horny Toad you Eat well, drink well. . . .
Carpe diem, quam minimum credula postero

what ever tomorrow brings here is a place to Sieze the Day @ Lake Ozarks
