Located on the corner of a street in a very small building, I drove past it the first time. However, Once inside you are exactly where you need to be for homebrewing. Doc's is the only place to go in the Binghamton Area for your homebrew supplies and or wine making supplies. Yet, has a very good selection, and Doc is extremely helpful with finding things, and giving you hints and suggestions as to what products to use, and or substitute. I would highly recommend Doc's to anyone in the Binghamton area looking for their homebrewing supplies.

I find it funny my first review was removed for being honest about this establishment. This review will be based on Doc's home brew supplies. Doc does carry a ton of wine kits, but I am not into making my own wine.

Doc's is not a high quality home brew shop by any means. My heart sinks when I hear people from other cities rave on how nice there local places are. The selection at Doc's is very limited. If you want to purchase a kit you are limited to Brewer's Best style. Anyone who's brewed a canned BB kit and then gotten a fresh ingredient online knows of the quality difference.

The gain availability is very limited. Doc only carries prepackaged grains, there is no bulk section like I've seen in other shops. Beside crystal malts, it's tough to walk in there and expect to leave with what you were looking for. I've given up with expecting to get all my specialties from there because I haven't had any luck in the past. I'm forced to plan my brew's ahead of time so I can get everything I need online, which is inconvenient when you have a LHBS a few miles away. For the longest time there was no mill, now there is a corona mill with a tiny hopper. It is sad all my friends who brew have their own roller mills, but we can't even get one in our local shop.

As for the yeasts, check the dates on the vials. Many are past the "best before" dates, there was WL Antwerp Ale in there that was expired for well over 9 months the last time I was there.

If Doc wanted to do things right he would start ordering bulk grains and prepackaging different styles just like all the thriving online sites. I hope Doc turns things around, because I'd love to spend my $ there, but it just hasn't meet my needs.

Before I moved to Florida, Doc's Homebrew was my go to store for supplies. Only a few things in my homebrew equipment collection DIDN'T come from there.
Doc is a great guy, personable and knows his beer. He was on the ball with ordering things if we request them and new what was going to be in when; he is on top of his game.
As this is the only homebrew shop in that area I could go to (and therefore the only one in that demographic market) I do not have much to compare the price/value so the only comparison would be online prices, which are cheaper.
