Let me start by saying I live in upstate NY. I feel after shopping for beer in Sarasota that I am spoiled more then I ever knew. I am basing this review based on the other stores in the area with Total Wine being the best store and where this one compares to that.

So lets get to it. This store has a very limited selection. It is obvious that beer is not there priority. I am sure there food is great but we are here for the beer. I was in there for 5-10 minutes with no acknowledgement from the staff. They do offer some decent brews but are light years behind Total Wine. I did not purchase a single beer in this store. If in town and looking to go beer shopping you can skip over this place.

I stopped into the Butcher's Block while visiting Sarasota with family. It's a beautiful store with an outstanding selection of meats and wines. They also have a decent selection of cheeses and prepared foods. It's extremely neat and the food is displayed very nicely.

The beer selection is small and a bit erratic but has some good offerings. It includes some Belgians (Orval, Chimay and others) and a few other Europeans but it's mostly US beers. All are kept refrigerated. I didn't see any locals (I know FL is pretty limited in that department but I had hoped to find something).

I don't know what other alternatives there are in the area but judging it nationally, the Butcher's Block is decent but not exceptional. If you're looking for some steaks to go with the beer, it scores better.

This is a great place. I went in to see what kind of beers they had and left with steaks, cheese, potatoes, and beer. All quality stuff. To name a few they had DFH Raison D'extra, DFH 60 Minute IPA, Deus, Chimay, Weihenstephaner Hefe Weiss, SN Bigfoot, Jolly Pumpkin, Rouge, Cosendonk, Mojo, Mad River, and many more top rated brews. I talked with the owner and he said he was really trying to bring in and keep high quality beers there. If your in or near the Sarasota area, it's definately worth the trip.

This smallish market is located about 15 mins north of downtown Sarasota, upon entering all the beer is located to your hard right in a couple of open cooling units, nice to see all the Great Divides, plenty of Rogue and DFH, also Saison Dupont and the seemingly everywhere in FL. Chimay trio. As others of mentioned, tons of wine, great looking meats, sauces, cheeses etc. The even have a cooler for whine aging..wouldnt it be nice to see some vintage beers in there? Maybe one day...This place is well worth a visit for a nice selection, worthy food choices and they also make a nice sandwedge

This is -- as the name says -- an upscale meat market and specialty food store. They've got a huge wine selection and a nice cooler in the corner with beer. You can mix and match to make your own six pack. I've found a few brews -- like Unibroue's Edition 2004 and Anchor Our Special Ale -- here that I haven't seen anywhere else in town. They stock the whole Great Divide and Coopers line as well as a good selection of Rogue, including the XS line. You could think of this place as Whole Foods' smaller brother.

The employees are nice but work behind the counter far away and haven't volunteered much beer knowledge.

They close at 6 so don't get there late! It's a nice place, though probably not worth a special trip if you're coming from out of town and can get to Whole Foods. Maybe call 'em to get a list of beer?

despite the name this place is a great place to find beer. they have a small, but great selection of everything from dogfish 60min, indian brown...mojo ipa...lots from great divide...celebrator...gonzo porter..etc.etc.

its really a nice combonation of beers, and the best part is EVERYTHING is individually price labeled. they also have empty 6 packs sitting in the area so you can use them to stock up your own concoction of beer samples in an easy to go package.

i looked through the store for at least 10min without ever being asked for help, but the store is really set up for the deli so i dont hold that against them. definitely a place to check out if you can.

Very extensive wine collection however, they are breaking into carring quality beers. Hs a good selection of Belgians, Westmalle Dubbel, Triple, Orval, Chimay, Duvel, Delerium Tremens,. I asked them to bring in Westvletren and in 9 days they had a case!! The price was great to. Please talk to Boomer he is open to suggestions and looking to please everyone.

Very good selection of micros as well including many Rogue ales. Please check them out and if they do not have it they will get it for you. Pick up some great steaks and some great beer and enjoy.
