Southern Pecan Nut Brown Ale is the first beer in the world, to our knowledge, made with whole roasted pecans. The pecans are used just like grain and provide a nutty characteristic and a delightful depth to the flavor profile. This beer is very lightly hopped to allow the malty, caramel, and nutty flavors shine through. The color is dark mahogany. Southern Pecan won a Bronze Medal in the 2006 World Beer Cup in the Specialty Beer category.

Good for a dinner drink or for lunch, not at a bar. Smooth bitterness and really some hop hints combined with low to medium carbonation makes it that.

It definitely is a brown ale but I'm not sure I like the pecan-based malt. By and large it is a decent beer, and it won some awards so definitely some people love it but not me. Part of a shipment from Amazing Clubs on two different shipments.

Pours a nice, dark amber with an average short-lived cream colored head.
Smells sweet and nutty, as expected of this Pecan Nut Brown Ale. Taste of caramel and lightly roasted brown bread. A very enjoyable sesson ale.

Poured a nice amber color with a quickly receding foam head. Scent is on the sweeter side with notes of nuttiness and dried fruit. Taste follows, with the sweetness coming through most prominently in a caramel adjacent flavor. Feel is on the lighter side for a brown ale and bitterness was considerably muted. Overall an interesting offering, but would prefer a bit more bite in either direction with an EBA.

a cloudy dark amber, barely a 1 finger head, weak lacing, a mild nutty smell, like a weak version of my mom's homemade pecan candies
taste like roasted nuts, on cracker... like watered nutella on toast

Poured dark but not black with substantial head that faded quickly.
The nose was slightly sweet but also kind of a mystery.
Taste was sweet with slight nuttiness and mild bitterness that leads to a very refreshing and sessionable beer despite its simplicity.

Very refreshing and well balanced. Poured into a Samuel Adams glass resulting in a rapidly dissipating head with good lacing. Received as part of a gift package. If it was available where I live it would be a part of my rotation.

From a 12 oz. bottle

Clear brown with red highlights. One finger variegated white head. Full surface cap, spotty lacing.
Roasty malt, light nutty aromas.
Some hop bitterness up front, noticeable pecan flavor but not overwhelming, slightly sweet, light herbal flavor.
Medium bodied, good carbonation, dry finish.
Does well accompanying a substantial meal.
