Brewed by:
Lazy Magnolia Brewing Company
Mississippi, United States

Style: English Brown Ale

Alcohol by volume (ABV): 4.50%

Availability: Year-round

Notes / Commercial Description:
Southern Pecan Nut Brown Ale is the first beer in the world, to our knowledge, made with whole roasted pecans. The pecans are used just like grain and provide a nutty characteristic and a delightful depth to the flavor profile. This beer is very lightly hopped to allow the malty, caramel, and nutty flavors shine through. The color is dark mahogany. Southern Pecan won a Bronze Medal in the 2006 World Beer Cup in the Specialty Beer category.

A - Pours a Dark copper color with a very nice 2 finger tan head. The head does disapate rather quickly and there is no lacing. This beer is crystal clear!

S - Not much aroma. Sweet malts with a slight nutiness too it.

T - Tastes caramel malts. Also, slight hint of pecan. Pretty one dimensional. Not much flavor

M - A very lighy beer. Almost watery. Not much body.

O - An ok beer. Its not bad, just nothing special. I was really looking foward to trying this beer but was dissappointed. On a positive note, one could definately put back seera lof these in one session

Appearance: reddish brown with thin tan head and good clarity

Aroma: smooth bready notes with pecan nuttiness and slight molasses like sweetness, overall not very aromatic

Taste: very similar to aroma with bready and nutty notes mixed with a slight molasses sweetness. Somewhat balanced finish with balance leaning towards malt.

Mouthfeel: medium body, medium-low carbonation, smooth and refreshing not cloying

Overall: a decent beer overall, not particularly flavorful or aromatic, but definitely smooth and easy drinking. It is refreshing to have a beer everyone once in a while that doesn't punish your palate or blow your mind. This one is just that. Nothing wrong with it, nice bready notes and pecan hints and a little residual sweetness.
