Brief impression from a BOTTLE:
APPEARANCE: White head, a bit thin, of nice retention (~5-6 minutes). Leaves lacing on the sides of the glass.
Body is a clear copper of decent vibrance.
AROMA: Floral hops. Soapy off-flavour. Pale malts. Additional malt sweetness - I suspect crystal malt; it's unwelcome. Suggests an imbalanced beer with insufficient hop pungency and flavour.
Aromatic intensity is mild.
TASTE: Underhopped. Too malty. Fails to showcase amarillo well.
Imbalanced, with too much emphasis on malts, none of which taste fresh or have any expressiveness. I suspect crystal malt or caramalt was employed...poor choice. Bready. Horribly lackluster in terms of hop pungency and depth of hop flavour for a beer billed as an IPA, bringing less hop emphasis to the table than even an English pale ale.
Shallow, simple, dull, and forgettable.
TEXTURE: Smooth, wet, medium-bodied, coating, unrefreshing. Subpar execution...feels a bit stale.
OVERALL: More mediocrity from Lazy Magnolia in a category too competitive to allow it. It does a decent job at hiding its ABV and it's not watery, but that's about all I can about it that's positive.
High D+ (2.48) / NOT RECOMMENDED

06.24.17 2nd impression from another bottle:
Pours a pale copper body of above average vibrance. Head fills more than 50% of my pint glass, but brings some appealing frothiness.
Aroma suggests a dreadfully imbalanced IPA with hints of old tangerine, vague resin, and unwelcome overly sweet caramalt. Ugh.
Taste is malty and off-puttingly imbalanced.
Has a stale presence on the palate. Unrefreshing.

Pours a slightly hazed amber with 3 fingers of whippy cream colored head. Good head retention & lacing
S: Slight cattyness & breadyness
T: Breadyness, cattyness, a little grapefruit, & some grassyness & tangerine up front . Pear, sweet breadyness, caramel & a little pineapple as this warms, plenty of cattyness too. Finishes with leafy & catty hops, plus bready sweetness & tangerine
MF: Medium body, assertive carbonation, warming, balance is arlight, but body starts thinning out as it warms
Drinks easy, but just needed more body & hop punch, I wouldn't turn one down, but I would never buy this again. Still was excited to see these try something like this

Poured out a clear, golden yellow color with a large, off-white head of foam. It smelled juicy and malty. The flavor was a struggle. Malty sweet and unbalanced.
