Pours a hazy amber color with an off white head. Head slowly fades to a thin skin that leaves lots of side glass lace.
SMELL: Starts with tart, piney hops. Citrus of grapefruit. A little musky.
TASTE: Tart, dry, hoppy with citrus overtones and some rye malts.
FEEL: I get more malts on the palate in this area.
Very tasty beer. I'll have another!

Clear amber color with beige head. Aroma has woody hop notes, sweet orange, red grapefruit and some underlying caramel malt. Taste starts with the sweet citrus fruits backed up by the malt, continues with earthy hops and finishes with medium grapefruit bitterness. Medium body with soft carbonation. Overall it's really easy drinking DIPA with the alcohol hidden very well and very balanced taste.

12 oz bottle. Glowing amber orange pour, finger white head fades slowly leaving lots of spattered lace. Sticky sweet malt aroma, toasted bread, mild citrus. The taste is on the sweet side, but not overly. The sweetness is balanced by piney floral hops with lingering bitterness, a touch of peppery spice throughout. Alcohol is very well hidden. Medium oily slick mouthfeel. Best brew by Lazy Mag in my opinion, wish it would get down here a little fresher.

TONS of frothy head. Pretty slow to diminish. Leaves lots of lacing. Fairly clear; copper to amber color. Smells good. Taste is complex, dominated by pine. Plenty of spicy notes. Sour. The tiny bit of sweetness compares to burnt caramel. Hints of oak. Very pleasant bitter finish. Pretty full bodied for an IPA. 9.0% alcohol content but not overpowering. Something you are supposed to sip, but somehow you don't. Creamy mouthfeel with all the carbonation. The very first of several great IPAs from the region. Definitely a winner.

Appearance: Mildly hazy honey amber with fine bubble beaded head and good lacing.

Aroma: Caramel malt, spicy hops with a touch of earthiness. Striking in a pleasant way.

Taste: Full, spicy, caramely with a hoppy rye punch. Pleasant and lasting through the finish which is malty and hoppy in about equal measure. I don't notice any of the alcohol mentioned by other reviewers and at 9% ABV it's hardly a blockbuster.

Texture: Medium full without being heavy.

Overall: A beast of an Imperial Rye Ale which should appeal to those who want a heavy textured full flavored ale. Not stout like, not ale like, something in between and unique.

Better than expected for the high abv. Nice rye flavor and smooth overall.
