Appearance - Very clear straw/golden color. Super white head without much size, retention or lacing. Looks like a "macro" lager or pilsner. A few bubbles streaming up from the bottom.
Smell - A grainy aroma. Some corn and wheat notes. It smells clean. Maybe some toasted notes, but they are really faint.
Taste - The taste provided the grain with some buttery flavors. Got the corn again, but I also detected some sweetness. Clean throughout. A supportive bitterness adds a bit of complexity.
Mouthfeel - Light to medium mouthfeel. Refreshing and mostly dry. Crisp and easy going. Left touches on the palate.
Drinkability - This, to me, is a step above the "macros." It still has some of the characteristics, however like the pronounced corn/grain aromas and taste. This would be nice in the Summer, but I would probably look elsewhere after a couple.

Shimmering chill hazed gold with an uneven firm white blanket sloping towards the drinking side.
The round body has a tingly carbonation that brings bready, malty semi-sweet corn to the palate, transitioning to a nicely crisp and semi-bitter grassy bite, finishing semi-dry.

a technically decent helles that overstayed its welcome in my fridge and drank a bit tired when i finally cracked into it. its just a tad maltier and fuller than a lot of helles types, and doesnt quite have the visual clarity and brightness i look for in the style, but the flavors are right, a crisping german lager yeast and a simple, earthy, crackery malt base, just doesnt smell or taste very fresh to me, like its been in the bottle way too long. short white head on it, not the frantic carbonation i like, but some life remains, and there is a mineral profile to the beer that seems classically german to me. a little more sweetness in the taste than i like, but its mostly gone by the finish, so it never really seems heavy or anything. with a style like this, where there is so little room for creative freedom, execution is so key, like it has to be amazing to even be good i feel like, with so many solid examples of almost every style readily available these days, and this one really didnt hit that mark for me. not writing it off though, just need to try it fresher next time.

3/24/18...Pours pale dark gold, white ring above, active bubbles. Very light straw nose. Faint. Taste is citrus forward, light and wheaty. Firm grasses take hold. Straws too. Nice.

I got a bottle of this from a mixed 12pck from my local meijer. It poured a clear golden with white head that is not leaving any lace. The scent had faint grain. The taste was nicely balanced and easy to drink. The mouthfeel was lighter in body with good carbonation. Overall its a good beer.
