A: pours a dark yellow to very light orange with a thin white head that dissipated quickly. there is some lacing on the glass.

S: There is a grainy sweetness with a touch of toasted malt. Biscuity throughout. a background citrusy hop note. Im gettin a little DMS here but nothing unpleasant

T: Malty sweetness, very well balanced with a citrusy hop noted. medium bitterness that balances the malt well. Finishes dry and malty

M: medium body and very smooth

D: Pretty good beer. I liked it better as I made my way through the pint. initially wasn't crazy, by the end I wanted another.

fresh 12 oz bottle.
Pours clear, golden with a moderate size head that has weak retention,
Fairly nice aroma of sweet and light roasted malts. Flavor is true to German style heles with no noteworthy faults or strengths.
Medium-light body; lightly crisp carbonation; slightly dry finish.

12oz. brown bottle from the sampler pack, purchased at Kroger's in Finneytown, poured into a pint.

A: Pours a light amber or toasted straw color, good visibility. 1 finger of white head forms and holds for a bit. Some lacing here and there.

S: Light floral and grassy hops with a prick of spice. Grainy and lightly toasted malts.

T/M: More of the grainy and lightly toasted malts with a touch of added sweetness. The hops are a bit softer but still have that earthy and grassy taste. From the middle and through the end, it tightens up into a crisp, dry finish with a touch of lasting bitterness. Body is medium-light with decent carbonation.

D: Tasty enough and very sessionable. Wouldn't mind knocking a few more of these back after a long day in the sun. Their website lists this as 5.2% ABV

Darker than any Helles I've seen to date, it's almost amber and only as clear as the color allows (which is still pretty clear). A fizzy, big-bubbled head makes a fair effort and sets an oily foam atop the brew. It holds as is for the duration, laying down spotting as it goes.
Dry and sweet clash rather than complementing or working off each other. Malts are crackery while a slick sort of sweetness counters and dry hay runs underneath. It's okay.
It's mostly the same but with a distinct note of diacetyl running through. It's a little too grainy as well. Otherwise, that sweetness continues here, and there is an herbal hops note. Oils, grains, and slickness keep it from being remotely clean.
The same goes for what should be a crisp, light-bodied beer; it weighs heavy with an off slickness on the tongue. It is somewhat crisp, but not enough to redeem this beer.

I enjoy this brewery and this is a great golden beer. I like this beer on a nice warm day sitting next to the pool.

A- Beautiful color when poured into a glass. Its a golden color with a nice little head on top.

S- Its not a crazy strong smell, but does have a great hint of hops to it.

T- Its my "miller lite" or "Bud light". I can drink this stuff all day and not get sick of it.

M- It has a smooth feel and goes down nice.

D- Easy to drink and great to have a cooler full of it.

I got a bottle of this from a mixed 12pck from my local meijer. It poured a clear golden with white head that is not leaving any lace. The scent had faint grain. The taste was nicely balanced and easy to drink. The mouthfeel was lighter in body with good carbonation. Overall its a good beer.

My wife and I used to live in the Cincinnati area so Moerlein was a well frequented establishment at that time. When we moved to Chicago, I could no longer get my hands on any of the Moerlein products, so when she was traveling to Cincy for work a few weeks ago I requested that she bring back some Moerlein lagers. Since she was more than happy to fulfill that request, I am finally able to review this beer that I rated several years ago.

This beer pours a slightly off white (yellowish tint) head that is frothy in appearance and dissipates to a thin lacing rather slowly. The beer itself is clear with high carbonation and is a pale golden color. 3.75/5 The aroma is a nice balance of sweet and earthy with caramel and cereal grains coming out from the malt and a slight grassy note coming out from the hops. There is what seems to be a hint of wheat as well, which adds an earthy undertone to the aroma. 4/5 The flavor is very malty but not overly sweet, rather focusing on the grains. There is a bit of pear and peach notes that are very light and come through in the middle before grassy hops make their appearance near the end, bringing with them a moderate bitterness that goes away quickly and does not linger. There is a bit of a buttery after-flavor that lingers lightly but then disappears fairly quickly. As the beer warms, a bit of sweet corn comes through, adding another sweet earthiness to the overall flavor. 3.75/5 A light carbonation burn hits the tongue but recedes quite rapidly. The rest of the mouthfeel is very smooth and creamy, maybe even a bit oily and seems to coat every inch of the tongue. This leads into, oddly, a very light drying that lingers on the palate after swallowing. 3.25/5 This lager packs plenty of flavor but the mouthfeel is a bit odd for the style. Sweet but earthy and slightly bitter, this beer has a nice balance and is easily sessionable. Particular good on warmer days or while eating hotter food. 3.75/5
