On Tap at FarmTeam Cook house Ottawa - Listed as 'Barn Dog Ale' aka Nickel Brook Draught

Appearance – Light amber colour with an average size fizzy off-white coloured head. There is an average amount of carbonation and there is some fair lacing. The head lasted for around 3-4 minutes before it was gone.

Smell - Grains/wheat, malts, herbal notes

Taste & Mouth - The beer has an above average amount of carbonation. I can taste grains/bread mixed with herbal grassy notes and some light hops. It ends with a grainy malty aftertaste.

Overall – Not a bad beer.. it has some nice flavours going on that keep it fairly interesting. I could see myself drinking a few of these back to back.

Bottle from the brewery, obtained a few days ago. A bit of moldy smell and in fact taste. Very basic beer, not too drinkable. Pale yellow with a minimal white head. A bit watery, though not the worst in that department. Moldy taste left mouth after a while.

Bottle from Brewery. Kim sez this is an ale with it’s own smooth character from kreusening.

Pours a lightly hazed honey gold smallish cap good lacing

Aroma is grainy, lightly woody-earthy

Good earthy cereal tastes..organic malts very demure hop presence (northern brewer?) to balance..leaves this malt accented with light earthy-twiggy-woodsy tones, rounded, mellow...the malt is earthy and grainy... no biscuits or bread sweetness...finishes clean and grainy light lemony bite in the finish with an earthy-grainy after taste.

Poor man’s kolsch made with organic malts and Kreusened...drinkable as hell.

This was recently released by Better Bitters as their "Buck a Beer" Product. Made a regular stop at the brewery and picked up a dozen of these to sample them.

This poured a pale amber with a very minimal quickly dissipating head, not too bad but the head was lacking a little excitement. Smell is very malty on the nose, with some hop character in there. These are carried into the flavor quite nicely with a VERY bold malt flavor and a slight bitterness that makes it's way to a slightly watery finish, making this very easy to drink.

As far as craft brews go, this is a decent beer. However, as far as the "Buck a Beer" genre goes, this is by far the best out there so far.
