BA Barleywine with brett added by Giovanni Campari from Del Ducato

APPEARANCE: Perfectly flat pour. Clear rust or burnt orange with no carbonation at all. Very syrupy pour for sure, but not head or lacing at all.

SMELL: Caramel and toffee, red fruits, brown sugar, vanilla, coconut and wood on the nose. Brett notes with light citrus as well. Well balanced, very bold, and very enticing.

TASTE: This is crazy good. Caramel and toffee with barrel flavors though the middle in to a finish of wood, vanilla, light coconut, with fruity sweetness like grapes, dates and red berries. Brett at the swallow with citrus lemon and light sourness as well. A little touch of booze rounds it off nicely with some sweet, fruity flavors, bourbon barrel and a light sourness lingering on the palate. Really flavorful and well balanced, with lots of sweetness, wood and coconut, with a touch of citrus sourness all balanced really wonderfully.

PALATE: Perfectly flat, but it's so thick and syrupy and sticky that it works. Slick on the palate, goes down silky and finishes very sticky on the palate. Huge final gravity on this one. No heat or alcohol linger, surprisingly enough.

OVERALL: This is absolutely delicious. Everything works so well in this one, as the sweetness, bourbon barrel and brett all get along in perfect harmony. Usually the lack of carbonation puts me off, but in this case, and especially with the light sourness on the palate, it really didn't bother me at all. I'd gladly stock up on this if it weren't so expensive. Highly, highly recommended if you get the chance. Wonderful stuff gents.

750 mL bottle. Reddish amber clear body. No head. Smells acidic and fruity. Caramel malt. A little bit of vinegar. Tastes sharp and fruity. Acidic. Much less vinegary. Sweet caramel. Earthy brett finish. Bourbon is faint, but present in the finish. Heavy with low carbonation. This is interesting, but it's a struggle.
