Too far into a night for a proper review.

The nose is chocolate and aged malt with whiffs of smoke.

The flavor if dark mixes of smoke, oak, BBQ, aged beer, fruity rotting stuff, it's awesome.

This is great stuff.

Maybe I just don’t appreciate this beer style or I had a particularly bad batch. But the aroma and flavor just hit me very strongly and reminded me of the formaldehyde smell in anatomy lab. I could barely sense anything else outside of that - maybe some smokiness, molasses, grain and malt. Nice dark rich brown color with minimal head and lingering lacing. Smooth finish. But I just can’t get over that smell and taste. Couldn’t drink more than just a few sips.

A - Dark body, opaque, with a minimal tan head and no real lacing.

S - Sharp nose of alcohol, of spirits and also medicine, then a strong wiff of smoke and bacon.

T - Follows the nose, boozy and sharp, with a sweet malt hit, coupled with smoke and umami. Downside of plastic and tar, which is both cloying and harsh.

M - Boozy warmth and cloying weight on the tongue.

O - This might be a solid beer, but it hits a lot of notes that I do not groove to.

I had two 0.25l draft pours of this on 20SEP17 at Arendsnest in Amsterdam. Each pour was €5.00.

The bier was jet black, with a thin layer of fine, tan foam on top. Head lasted nicely, with good lace left behind. Had an intense roasty, smoky aroma. Wow - think Schlenkerla! It was pretty smooth, though a bit less than medium; could have/should have been fuller, imo.

Tasted of roasty notes, caramel and molasses initially. Had some bacon, solid smoked malts and peat. Finish was a touch earthy. Could have had more body, but quite flavorful all in all. Prosit!

I've never drunk a melted tire before, but I can imagine that this would be it.

Poured into a snifter, the appearance was a dark brown color close to black. A thin white foamy head started and dissipated within a sly roughly thirty seconds. Lacing seems to slide right on into the beer itself. The aroma is beautifully and wonderfully done ranging between the smoke, the sweet, the meat, the peat, the caramel and toffee malt and then some light vanilla and subtle milk chocolate. The flavor leads with the smoky sweet blend of arranging cool fresh sticky malts. Sticky sweet to smoky blend roaming into the aftertaste and finish. On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a fair sessionability about it. Carbonation feels fairly low. Super smooth all around. Overall, damn nice smoked beer!

Dark brown with no head, and only a slight ruby tinge when held to the light. No visible carbonation, in fact I thought it was completely flat until tasting it.

Blood oranges, red bbq rib sauce, sour and smokey, with a hint of liquorice.

Tastes slightly sweet, much like bbq sauce, and liquorice with a hint of watered down orange soda.

Medium, thick body, with a hint of carbonation.

Got in Chiang Mai months ago, I am drinking it at the Napatra Hotel here March 24th, 2017.

330ml bottle poured into a pint glass. Bottled 2013, consumed 2016.

The showcase is pure black with almost no any head and very limited spotty lacing on the glass-side, there are only some tan bubble films on the surface as well as lots of sediment floating around.

Heavily smoked aroma reminds me of smoke bacon or kind of smoke meat, some roasted malt, chocolate, burnt wood, earthy and lightly sweet cream.

The palate still being dominated by its smoky character, then it is roasted malt that yields notes of coffee, chocolate and astringency. Moderately sweetness from malt reveals in the middle while the smokiness wraps up again in the finish together with some bitterness and slightly warm alcohol.

Medium body with rather smooth mouthfeel, low carbonation but has some crisp to generate some softness through the palate, dry finish.

Interesting and complex brew, not the beer for everyone but for those who appreciate this type of style.

330 ml bottle into snifter, bottled on 12/6/2013. Pours moderate hazy/cloudy very dark brown color with no head and minimal lacing on the glass. Good appearance. Aromas of big wood/peat smoke, salt, bacon, leather, caramel, chocolate, cocoa, toffee, toasted brown bread, light coffee/nuttiness, light dark fruit, herbal, light pepper, and roast/smokey earthiness. Very nice aromas with good balance and complexity of dark/roast/bready/smoked malts and light earthy hop notes; with great strength. Taste of big wood/peat smoke, salt, bacon, leather, caramel, chocolate, cocoa, toffee, toasted brown bread, light coffee/nuttiness, light dark fruit, herbal, light pepper, and roast/smokey earthiness. Light herbal/spicy and roast/smokey bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of wood/peat smoke, salt, bacon, leather, caramel, chocolate, cocoa, toffee, toasted brown bread, herbal, light pepper, and roast/smokey earthiness on the finish for a while. Damn nice complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roast/bready/smoked malts and light earthy hop flavors; with a great malt/bitterness balance, and zero cloying sweetness after the finish. Light dryness from hop/roast bitterness as well. Light carbonation and medium-full body; with a very smooth, creamy, lightly slick/silky, and sticky/chalky balanced mouthfeel that is nice. Zero warming alcohol for 8.2%. Overall this is a great smoked stout. All around great complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roast/bready/smoked malts and light earthy hop flavors; very smooth and easy to drink for the ABV. Was expecting it to be more roasty when I saw this was a stout, but perhaps that would clash too much with the amount of smoke flavor that is present. Very intensely smokey/peaty, but still has a nice malt backbone. A very enjoyable offering.
