Poured at a perfect temperature with a huge long-lasting off-white head, lots of clingy lace and a hazy honey amber color. Aroma is malt hops grain. Flavor is complex with biscuit malt, A hint of Caramel, some fruit spice, plenty of hops, yeast and carbonic tang. Body is a little watery. A little boozy in the finish. Overall a very good beer

Bottled, bottle conditioned because I saw the sediment & stopped pouring in time and part of a surprise gift from me Julie, in the way if a beer 52 delivery
Pours a golden honey coloured bidy with good white head
Aroma rushes the nose on opening with a big hit of lime citrus
Flavour is grainy malt, grapefruit & a nice easy soapy bitter finish

it has been just way too long since i had or even laid eyes on anything from de molen, one of the unsung greats and one of my personal favorites, so i was so stoked when i found this bottle collecting dust at a little bottle shop in anchorage, had to pick it up and bring it home, finally opened it up last night. now, i had pretty low hopes since its a pale ale type with a 2012 date on it, more than ten years old, no way its good right? but its from de molen, there was always going to be a cool yeast aspect to this, and it was cheap enough i had to try it. so glad i did, it has amazing properties still, despite being ancient and most assuredly past its prime, i thought the drink within two years recommendation on the label was already generous, but maybe not! its got a middle amber color to it, is quite clear until the sediment in the bottom inch of the little bottle, and the head is high, just off white, creamy looking, and permanent. carbonation is frantic and excited, and the smell is unique, oxidized for sure, wet cardboard and old dusty lumber, some english character to the grain still evident, a little toasted and a little astringent, some crazy bread yeast vibes too, minerals, a little skunk, some bitter hops too it seems somehow remain. the flavor is curiously delicious, yeasty now more than malty, sort of english ale yeast, bread yeast, and saison yeast all together, some interesting notes of pear, white pepper, and burlap, even white wine. no doubt this is old right, i mean its totally faded and strange and even the yeasts seem fatigued, but is also kind of good, like the initial quality is still evident, and even though this isnt one of their huge stouts or porters, it seems to have similar ageing ability for whatever reason. the yeast is cool in this, its got good balance still, feels super lively and effervescent, and its a little strange in a good way, no infected or anything, and actually was preferable to me over a locally made summer ale i had immediately after, which frankly should not have been the case. even in these worst of circumstances for the beer, de molen strikes again. ill always buy their stuff when i see it, even when its this sort of thing. shockingly still tasty...

Bottle at Las Buenas Pulgas, served in a trappist glass. Deep golden colour, small head with short retention, sticky lacing. Aroma of pine, caramel, resins, grapes. Medium body, creamy texture, average carbonation. Sweet but hoppy finish. Taste of resins, caramel, fruits, hops. OK.

Golden colour with a lot of foam. A bit too much in fact, needed a few pourings to get this one in its glass. Nice fresh grassy hoppy smell. The taste is a bit standard IPA material. Some flowers, some light fruits, some pine, some malt, some caramel, but nothing manages to really shine here. Mouth feel is medium bodied with an average level of carbonation. Fine beer, but not exceptional. And this is not an english bitter. More of a belgian blond/IPA hybrid.

Poured to an Ora et Labora taster.
A: Body is midway between orange and copper, with a full blown two finger thick head. Good retention and lacing.
S: Aromatic Amarillo hops are very prominent having a big profile in the nose. There's a bit of orange, slight grassiness and a bit malty chunk.
T: Flavour begins with a slow and mild citric profile evolving to a more green and unripe citric touch of acidity and bitterness. That specific flavour is also present in the end of the sip.
M: Body is medium. Carbonation is high. Bitterness is medium high. Alcohol is unnoticed.
O: Probably the best English Bitter I've had but I still find it a little bit bland.

Cloudy amber colour, pouring with a big head, unlike other beer of this type, which is an extra.
Smells flowery, fruity and honey-like.
It has a rather bitter feel during tasting. Some caramel, raisins and grapes towards the end. Unfortunately the hops is not significantly making its presence felt.
Overall, a pleasant, easy to drink beer, with a smell even surpassing its taste.

Bright marmalade-like citrus notes dominate on the nose. There's a nice hint of fresh-baked biscuits that follow, mixed with sprinkles of mashed/powdered grains here and there. It reminds me of the smell that escapes from a bag of multi-grain muesli when you first open the package. The marmalade mellows out while the biscuity wheaty notes intensify with the passage of time.
Somewhat opposite of the nose going on with the palate; you mostly get nice mellow wheaty flour-like flavors up first, which is briefly accentuated by the bright orange from the nose. There's a hint of citrus peel bitterness toward the end which is well-balanced by a mild biscuit-batter like flavor. There's also a hint of vanilla at the end that is well-hidden by the other characters at play.
Mouthfeel is definitely the highlight for this one. Crisp medium body, vanilla creamy, with vibrant, persistent carbonation. The finish is remarkably mild with just the right amount of dryness to make you want to keep reaching for your glass for another sip. Highly sessionable, would probably make a great companion to almost any meal.
