750ml cork and caged bottle purchased from the International Beer Shop and shared with mulder1010. My half poured into a Great Divide tulip style glass.

Huge pop and a gusher. Losing 50-100mls as a result. Not often you have a gusher with De Molen, but this was one of those rare occasions. Pours a jet black, hugely overcarbonated, pouring with 80% foam and 20% liquid.

Smell is of nice enticing chocolate and a delicate coffee aroma. Quite good in this regard.

Tastes as it smells, mainly of coffee and chocolate, a little but boring after a while as it is just these two flavours, whilst working well together, being the only two at the party.

Mouthfeel is nice and smooth, good body for the size, no super bitter finish, though the coffee flavour adds a touch at the end. Drinkability is hit a bit by this as it took the best part of an hour to split.

Overall, the flavours that come through are nice, but this lacks another dimension as while the coffee and chocolate is good, something more is needed for this to make the jump to the next level.

Purchased from de Bierkonig in Amsterdam. Poured into a pint glass(all i had at the time). Sampled on 10.22.10. Reviewed from notes. Bottle #205/431

A - gusher; half the glass is thick, foamy head; deep brown, virtually black in color;
S - coffee and dark chocolate, some floral notes; overall somewhat subtle
T - taste is also of coffee and dark chocolate; RIS base is hiding somewhat
M - high bubbly carbonation on a thin body, for RIS; roasty coffee linger finish and linger; alcohol is barely apparent for 10%
D - carbonation is an issue; after the massive head died down the carbonation was still a bit too bubbly; taste was good however

Purchased in large bottle from the Pivoteka Zly Casy in Prague, Czech Republic.
Drank out of small pint glass.

Highly overcarbonated, several of Molen's beers have had this problem but this was easily 2/3 foam on a careful pour. Settling time took over ten minutes.
Strong aroma of coffee, overpowering actually.
Taste is pleasant with a rich full-bodied coffee flavor and tones of chocolate. As the beer warmed tastes became more apparent.
Overall, very tasty if what you're expecting is a COFFEE imperial russian stout.

This brew is an RIS brewed with Antigua,Guatamala and dark Cuba coffee and this is bottle 71 out of 778 and brewed with help from Wijs&Zonen and pours a dark as kola hue with beautiful carbonation that leaves behind a creamy three finger head and heaps of lacing everywhere,the smell is straight out dark black roasty coffee,dark fruits,tobacco and oak,it has a lucious,creamy medium bodied mouthfeel and has tastes of dark dark expresso,roasted toasted malts and oats,strong dark mocha,dark fruits,oak and finished with a warming bitterness and overall a very nice RIS for a night like tonight as its ABV is very well hidden cheers.
