12 ounce bottle - $2.29 at Total Wine & More in Kennesaw, Georgia.

Appearance: Pours a slightly hazed, orangey-copper body with a medium-sized, near white head.

Smell: Pale malts with scents hinting of biscuits, of toffee while the hops yield oily orange peelings and softly resinous pine.

Taste: Biscuity, lightly toasty pale malts with some sweet toffee and blonde caramel notes. Restrained pine atop citrusy orangey tastes. Moderately bitter. The citrus and bitterness holds firm through the finish.

Mouthfeel: Medium-light body, though not quite thin. Medium carbonation.

Overall: A straight-forward, solid, no-thrills APA.

L: Pours a haze golden with a decent off white head.

S: Balance of floral hops and light caramel malt. Biscuity aromas with some pleasant floral and pine.

T: Nice balance with a decent bitterness. Nice malt flavor with some pilsner malt flavors. Pine dominates the hop profile with a light but of citrus. Finishes a bit dry.

F: Medium light body with moderate high carbonation.

O: Nice pale ale. I like the mild pilsner character and has a good balance. Nice session ale.

Foothills Brewery is arguably best known for their India Pale Ales, and in this instance they have taken a similar heavy-bittering-hops approach to their APA. At a reported 52 IBU, it is definitely on the bitter end of the scale for the style. It looks and feels the part: 5.5% ABV, hazy deep gold color, thick creamy head, and a thinnish texture with sharp carbonation that attacks the tongue in concert with the bitterness. Where it falls down is the flavoring hops, which, not having nearly as strong a presence as do the bittering hops, get buried under the bitterness. What there is of the flavoring hops expresses itself in a fairly straightforward manner with citrus and floral notes; my favorite characteristic of the APA style is complex, prominent flavoring hops, and you just don't get that with this beer- you could just as easily be drinking one of a number of craft IPAs.

12 oz bottle poured into snifter.
A: pours a dark orange golden copper color, fine bubble white foam head that fades to the outer rim, stringy legs of lacing
S: orange, papaya, citrus, cracker, malt
M: medium creamy body, resin on tongue
T: grape fruit rind, orange, hop bitterness, cracker, hay, earthiness
O: good brew, great aroma, the flavor is a little to earthy for me, maybe my bottle is old? Drank on 5-22-15

I thought it was an IPA. At any rate it's good and you should drink it.

fresh 12 oz bottle.
Very hoppy for style, but with typical moderate bitterness.
Aroma: very attractive with a fine blend of bready malts and citrus/herbal hops.
Herbal and citrus notes from the hops.
