22 ounce bottle poured into a tulip. Bottle was purchased at Foothills for $3

A: Pours a beautiful rich copper color with a frothy 2 finger off white head. Good lacing and great head retention.

S: Nose is strong with toffee, and nutty scents. some grassy scents as it warmed up

T: Carmel malts, with some nuttiness and hop bitterness.

M: Very crisp and extremely refreshing. Leaves a nice chewy feeling in the back of my teeth along with a slightly bitter after taste.

O: This is a damn good beer I believe its the first I've reviewed of the style, but it is one of my favorite Foothills brews so far.

A- Deep Amber with orange hues, light tan head that dissipates quickly
S- Sweet malts & caramel, bready, touch of earthy hops
T- follows the nose, malty with light caramel upfront with touch of bitterness from the hops that linger for a bit
M- light/medium body with moderate carbonation
O- Pretty nice for the style and balanced, enjoyed and would get again over other Oktoberfest.

Pours a real deep amber a little deeper than many of the style with a thin white head that is gone pretty quickly, aromas are malt driven to be expected definent caramel malt going on with some brown suger in there as well lets you know its gonna be sweet before drinking.Quite heavy in the mouthfeel dpeartment not one I dont think I could drink alot of,quite flavorful and sweet caramel dominates with some toasted malt undrneath not much hop presence to be had here. Was hoping for a little more dryness in the finish but this wasnt a bad beer just a little sweet,I would order again with a dessert offering I think.

Served on tap in a pint glass at Tyler's Taproom in Apex, NC

Brownish amber in color, crystal clear, with less than 2 fingers worth of off white soapy head. Retention is relatively low as the head dissipated quickly leaving behind a thin layer of bubbles and a ring.

Mostly caramel malt on the nose but there is an earthiness here as well with just a touch of a citrus hop note. Smells like an Oktoberfest should for the most part but nothing incredible.

First splash on the tongue delivers a nice rich malt flavor that has some solid flavor character from what seems like several different malts as it's hard to pick one out in particular. Abundant fine carbonation contributes to a texture that stops just short of creamy but is light enough to slide down easy. A touch on the dry side, this comes out particularly well in the finish as the dry malts fade something on the order of light hops before it all fades away in the linger.

Very enjoyable and quite drinkable. Great example of the style. Definitely recommended.

Pours a nice amber brown color with a creamy white head. Sticks around nicely. Aroma is malty and somewhat sweet. Nice smooth malt character and the hops settle nicely into the background. I pick up a nice chocolaty flavor from this one. Nicely carbonated and smooth to drink. A nice beer overall.

Pours a dark amber with a 1/4" of head. Good retention. It smells of toasted malts and faint caramel. The taste is toasty up front followed by smooth caramel and finishes with a faint bitterness. There's also a little yeast that's noticeable here. Mouthfeel is medium bodied, but heavily carbonated.

Overall, it's not a bad beer, but it's far more toasty than most marzens, it's a little yeasty, and too heavily carbonated for me which all detracts from the drinkability.

A finger of light tan head that hangs on with good surface memory and a clear, orangey-amber body. Nice sticky lacing too.

Smell is the standard crisp, sorta acrid German lager nose. Not bad though.

Taste is crisp but robust for the style. Somewhat grainy and the aftertaste reminds me of Cheerios. Roasty, slightly nutty malt dominates bu is well balanced by German hops. Taste is better than smell; typical for the style.

Quite smooth but well textured, fine.

It's a good Oktoberfest, above average for sure.

Draft at the brewpub.

A - Orangish-amber color with an off-white head.

S - Aroma is bready/caramel malt, somewhat one-dimensional but not bad.

T - More of the same, Munich and caramel malts. This is mostly malt-driven as the style usually is, with nuts and a tiny bit of roast. This beer is pretty good for the style, but only average overall.

M - Clean and medium-bodied with medium-low carbonation.

D - Fairly high.

On tap @ Foothills on 9/4/09. Served in a pint glass.

Pours a deep, clear, coppery amber, with a thin covering of slightly eggshell colored white foam. Fizzy looking retention, leaving back some light spotty lace that quickly recedes down the sides of the glass. The aroma has a moderate deepness to it, with the tang of bread and earthy citrus being rather prominent. Some pleasant feeling floral and spicy hop character gives this a bit of liveliness in the nose. Bit of nuttiness and lager yeast as well.

The taste is sticky with toasted bread, which is mixed in with that same nice tanginess of caramel and citrus flavors. Good balance comes courtesy of an assertive spicy bitterness that runs throughout, giving this a strong dry feel in the finish. The mouthfeel is medium bodied, with a sharp crispness to it, but overall this flows very smoothly across the palate.

A solid American take on the Octoberfest, that was initially fairly sweet, but then evened out nicely thanks to that much needed spicy Noble hop character. Tasty and crisp, I would have no problems getting behind a few pints of this come Fest time!

On tap at Meoondogs in Charlotte, formally Mellow Mushroom in NoDa. Pours a nice deppe amber, somewhat orange with little head but nice carbonation. Lots of malt is noted on this brew, not very hoppy at all. Easy to drink and one of the best Oktorbersfest I've tried before, definitely worth trying out.

Deep golden color with mediocre head and lacing. Aromas of sweet malt. Taste is light with some hop bitterness and bready, sweet malts. Balance is decent, but overall, beer is a little on the light side

Had this at the brewpub with lunch at the BA SC release along side some good BAer's and mikesgroove. Served from tap into a Foothills shaker. Poured red-orange with a minimal off-white head. There was no apparent lacing present throughout. The aroma was comprised of pumpkin, spices, and malt. The flavor was of pumpkin and spices. It was light on the palate with mid-high carbonation. Overall I am not usually a fan of this style of brew, however, this one was quite nice. Very nice refreshing character to it and just doesn't punch you in the face with pumpkin spices which was greatly appreciated. I would definitely try this one again given the opportunity as this is probably one of my favorites from this style.

On tap, served in an Imperial pint glass, Raleigh Times, Raleigh, NC:

The beer served was a nice deep, rich, dark amber color with an off-white-ish head that was not well retained. The head was light and fluffy and there was minimal lacing.

The aroma was lighter than expected, malty sweetness with a hint of nuttiness, no real hops presence to note.

The taste was better than the nose led on. It had a nice toasted malt flavor also with that hint of nut and hints of the hops to give the beer a nice balance.

The beer was on the lighter side of a moderate feel, smooth, good carbonation, easy to drink with nice dry aftertaste.
