Style: American IPA
Alcohol by volume (ABV): 6.30%
Availability: Year-round
Notes / Commercial Description:
The recipe is simple. Take some hoppy. Add some yum. Nutty malts lend a surprisingly sweet base to copious additions of tangerine-y Simcoe™ hops. Great aroma, superior taste, clean dry finish. One sip will show you why this is our most popular beer . . . followed closely by a strong desire to take another sip.

This IPA was shockingly good and quite lives up to it's name. Very small amount of bitterness and more so of a sweet, floral and full flavored in the hop range. All in all, this is another amazing good brew from North Carolina with a perfect balance of all things bitter, sweet and full of flavor and richness. You'll find no watery weakness in this IPA.

They started to sell this ipa at my local ALDI for a cheaper price than if i would go buy it at a local food lion or harris teeter so i picked up a six pack. I did try this beer before but never rated it. To me this ipa has perfect balance. Not to boozie, or too bitter, even though i like bitterness once and a while. It is basically a good overall ipa that has a great bitterness to sweet malty balance and i would recommend to everyone that enjoys a good ipa.

1/16/15 bottle date. Tasted fresh. Pine aftertaste. Not a hop bomb like expected but nice balance. Great color

Grapefruit, resin, pine, tangerine, lightly catty notes, and a hint of caramel malt form the aroma. Tropical fruit notes of mango emerge. Fairly complex hop character. Flavor reveals more resin dominance at the base, with pine carrying into the bitter finish. Toasted malt serves only to tie the hop flavor together. Grapefruit pith and tangerine are far overpowered by the resiny hop onslaught. It's more bitter than I prefer, with a bit of harshness at the finish. Loved the aroma, but wish the fruit had carried through more prominently. The finish kills it for me.

Bottle as a trade extra. Thanks! Pours clear golden orange with a big fluffy and creamy white head. Very pretty. Nice floral aroma that had some hay, lots of sweet mango, light grapefruit, citrus peel, nice lightly sweet malts in the backdrop. Flavor is grass, a hint of mango, sweet generic malts, a bit of funky hop presence, and a slightly off finish. Medium plus bitterness. Medium light bodied, plus carbonation, dry of the finish. Overall a perfectly pleasant IPA that would be very very good if not for the tinge of off flavor in the finish. Worth drinking.

A new and improved IPA from Foothills no name given yet but from the sever says a good chance it will be called hoppieum (spelled correctly),poured a brilliant clear bronze with a thinner white head.A hop attack on the nose grapefruit and pine dominate a mild caramel malt aroma underneath as well, very resiney, piney flavors up front the lightly sweet malt base is there just enough for those who might not like their stuff overly bitter as I drank more I picked up of an herbal finish.Quite dry and immensly quaffable for my money the best standard NC brewed IPA out there a notch above Shiva brewed in Asheville.I had to bring a growler home with me.

Thanks to Jackthebear for this 650ml bottle. Poured it into my Odell's IPA flute glass. Poured a very nice light amber color with a off=white head. My impressions were it was a very clean a pretty looking beer.
Smell - Was wonderful floral grapefruit notes. My favorite aspects of this beer.
Taste - Nice smooth start and middle to this beer not overly bitter and was pleasing. Had a bit of an after taste that I was not fond of. This is why it brought my score down.
Mouthfeel - was a bit thin
Overall not a bad drinker and will have no problem finishing the bottle but not one I am in love with either.

A- cloudy, with a beautiful burnt orange color, tons of pieces of hops and yeast chunks despite only pouring 3/4 of the bottle. Just a few off white bubbles in place of a head. I'm fine with not filtering but give me a warning and don't carry over the hops!
S- pungent, resinous, and dank with blackberry, raspberry and kiwi. Strong caramel sweetness and a touch of herbal also in the mix.
T- relatively light, citrusy flavors. Middle is a biscuity malt which fades to fairly high, astringent bitterness. Columbus hops seem to dominate with a Simcoe pine character also present but little citrus or juicy character.
M- thin, lightly carbonated. The thinness seems to accentuate the bitter finish but does little else for the beer.
O- this one was a disappointment. A few muddled, stale malt flavors and a bunch of bitter, astringent, medicinal pine is all that really comes through. Oh, and it's ugly.

Pours typical honey amber, fairly calm under a light khaki head, leaving copious amounts of sheeting a streaked lacing. Resiny hop nose. This is a full flavor and quite tasty IPA. Quality evident, easy drinking. Wish I could get this locally. Nice job Foot Hills
