Very Good
Hoppyum IPAHoppyum IPA
Notes: The recipe is simple. Take some hoppy. Add some yum. Nutty malts lend a surprisingly sweet base to copious additions of tangerine-y Simcoe™ hops. Great aroma, superior taste, clean dry finish. One sip will show you why this is our most popular beer . . . followed closely by a strong desire to take another sip.

This IPA was shockingly good and quite lives up to it's name. Very small amount of bitterness and more so of a sweet, floral and full flavored in the hop range. All in all, this is another amazing good brew from North Carolina with a perfect balance of all things bitter, sweet and full of flavor and richness. You'll find no watery weakness in this IPA.

Bottle as a trade extra. Thanks! Pours clear golden orange with a big fluffy and creamy white head. Very pretty. Nice floral aroma that had some hay, lots of sweet mango, light grapefruit, citrus peel, nice lightly sweet malts in the backdrop. Flavor is grass, a hint of mango, sweet generic malts, a bit of funky hop presence, and a slightly off finish. Medium plus bitterness. Medium light bodied, plus carbonation, dry of the finish. Overall a perfectly pleasant IPA that would be very very good if not for the tinge of off flavor in the finish. Worth drinking.

visiting east coast and came across this. Look smell and taste of an IPA. A bit more bitterness on the back end then I enjoy but it gets the job done and will be a good memory of the trip.

They started to sell this ipa at my local ALDI for a cheaper price than if i would go buy it at a local food lion or harris teeter so i picked up a six pack. I did try this beer before but never rated it. To me this ipa has perfect balance. Not to boozie, or too bitter, even though i like bitterness once and a while. It is basically a good overall ipa that has a great bitterness to sweet malty balance and i would recommend to everyone that enjoys a good ipa.

Grapefruit, resin, pine, tangerine, lightly catty notes, and a hint of caramel malt form the aroma. Tropical fruit notes of mango emerge. Fairly complex hop character. Flavor reveals more resin dominance at the base, with pine carrying into the bitter finish. Toasted malt serves only to tie the hop flavor together. Grapefruit pith and tangerine are far overpowered by the resiny hop onslaught. It's more bitter than I prefer, with a bit of harshness at the finish. Loved the aroma, but wish the fruit had carried through more prominently. The finish kills it for me.

1/16/15 bottle date. Tasted fresh. Pine aftertaste. Not a hop bomb like expected but nice balance. Great color

A: Pours a clear orange with about a finger of white head that recedes into a ring with little lacing.

S: Smells of pine, resin, and grassy hops.

T: Similar to the aroma, there is a blast of pine and grassy flavors from the hops with a decent bitter bite that doesn't linger around too long.

M: Medium body and carbonation that provides a bite for the bitterness and finishes pretty dry.

D: Overall, a pretty average IPA. Drinks pretty well and it's not a bad beer at all, but it's not particularly good either.

12 oz single ($1.75) from Bruisin Ales while passing through Asheville. No freshness date, but bought locally, so hopefully it's in good shape.

A: Nice bronze-orange glow. Clearly filtered. Very little head.

S: Decidedly tropical. Peach is prominent. Maybe a little mango. There's a clean, bready aroma as well.

T: The flavors of the nose are all there, but each is significantly more muted, which is a disappointment. This drinks a big more like a clean APA.

M: Thin and lacking.

O: This is close to a very good IPA, but the thin body and failure of the taste to match the aroma are weaknesses.

12 oz bottle poured into sniffer glass. Don B gave me the bottle....
A: pours a rich copper color, thick frothy khaki color+1 finger head, carbonation, sediment suspended
S: the aroma is my favorite part, its a sweet bouquet of caramel, citrus, apple, fruity, brown sugar, just fresh all around
M: medium body, slightly chewy
T: slight caramel, grapefruit, orange rind, ginger ale, citrus, hops, bitterness, crisp dry finish, hop head enjoyment
O: wow I'm impressed, sign me up a subscription to this brew as the aroma and flavor are great, truly a fine brew.

Had out it of the 750ml bottle so didn't see it but it had a great hoppy taste! The malts create that nutty flavor on the Palette followed by the lingering bitterness of 78 IBU. Would buy again.

32oz swingtop growler received as an extra in a trade thanks to a generous BA thanks!

Appearance: Pours a reddish tinged copper with a 2 finger slightly buttery white crown that displays moderate retention and decent lace.

Smell: Practically no smell whatsoever....WTF? It's like smelling a mediocre amber ale from a bottom of the barrel brew pub.

Taste: Some sweet malt up front that is more remniscent of the type of malt tasted in a red ale or a copper ale than the caramel flavor usually associated with IPA's of this color. Finally some moderate hop bitterness that is mainly herbal and slightly grassy. The hops finish quite soapy.

Mouthfeel: On the thin side of medium bodied, with carbonation that comes off slightly seltzery.

Overall: A pretty terrible example of the style but not the most offensive beer.
