12 oz bottle poured into glass -
bold light clear golden, wonderful foamy white head leaves lacing behind...
lots of nice hoppy aromas of the typical ipa, with an elegant note
Taste follows, and is sweet, light bitter, the elegance is also in the flavor and feel.
A really good example of this widely attempted style. 95-97 seems right for this

Excellent, high quality and easy drinking IPA, considering the ABV. Have had out of bottle and on tap. As a Winston Salem local, this is one of Foothill’s best. Smell, look, and feel are magnificent. It’s hard to describe, but you really get the “Jade” feeling with the taste. Just the right amount of bitterness to give it the character of an IPA but not overbearing with an ABV in the sweet spot to get you feeling right. Would highly recommend to anybody!

Poured from a 12oz bottle with a bottled on date of 9/30/19; into a pint glass.
Appearance- clear and gold like apple juice, some bubbles hold a very thin white head. Lacing is surprisingly decent.
Smell- delightful citrus and floral hop aroma!
Taste - decadent grapefruit and tropical fruit (pineapple and mango) flavor profile, with just a slight malt backing!
Feel - bitter, flavorful and extremely easy drinking!
Overall- very tasty, fruitful and spot on mouthfeel, but doesn’t necessarily separate a lot from the pack.

The totality is greater than the parts. Very noticeable orange peel taste and smell. Pours light copper in color. Semi unfiltered. Lacy which speaks to a decent hop content. Good beer. Numerically id rate it 87-90 out of 100.

Beautiful golden color with some hop haze, all underneath a dense eggshell colored head. Gorgeous beer. Nose features a heaping helping of dan, piney hop notes, which translate directly to the taste. World-class stuff here.

The mouthfeel is full and more than a bit oily. I’m really glad I had the chance to try this magnificent beer.

Poured a deep hazy yellow with a two finger frothy head that quickly dissipated to a thick film. Aroma is tropical citrus and pineapple. Initial light malt with a burst of tropical citrus and balanced piney hops on the finish. The feel is a bit thick but still in the moderate range with medium carbonation. While this is very refreshing, it is not crisp. This is a great balanced IPA that is very drinkable. The brew hides the higher ABV well.

Oh f××k yes!
Pours a dark yellow color with a nice head.
Overtone of piney hop aroma that follows through to the taste.
A slightly bitter taste through the aftertaste is not off-putting, most likely due to the high 7.4% abv.
This is simply the best IPA I have ever drank. Ranks a 9.5 out of 10 on the would you like to sit down with a 12 pack of this brew scale.

I tried this at Ponce City Market in Atlanta, GA. It poured a clear copper with white head that left some lace. The scent had bitter citrus notes. The taste was nicely balanced and easy to drink with grapefruit presence. The mouthfeel was lighter in body with good carbonation. Overall its a good beer.

Tap

Pours mostly clear straw golden. Fine eggshell head retains as s thick film.

Smells of fresh piney and citrus hops.

Flavor is of honey, biscuit, cereal, pine and earthy hops. Some herbal and earthy undertones, hints of toffee.

Medium body, fizzy carbonation on the tongue.

Tasty, enjoyable IPA with some good malt character to balance the herbal and earthy hops. Definitely worth trying.

Draft served in a shaker pint at Atlas Tap House Myrtle Beach SC. The beer is a bright light amber color with quickly fading off white head. The aroma is lovely with a unique smell that must come from the hops. It's evergreen and earthy. The taste is more of the same with a nice and unique profile. Mouthfeel is medium to thin bodied, adequately carbonated and dry in the finish. Overall, very good. This is one south Atlantic beer that matches it's BA score. Recommended if you're around SC.

Poured from a brown 12 oz. bottle. Has a golden color with a 1/2 inch head. Smell is of malts, hints of citrus. Taste is also malts up front, some citrus and herbal notes, little bitterness. Feels medium bodied in the mouth and overall is a decent beer, but I expected much more based on the score here.

a really tasty ipa from a brewery i have liked a lot everytime i get to drink one of their creations. this is a pretty classic ipa, dank and sticky and kind of big for a pint size serve these days, yet i also cant set the glass down and would have no problem making a night of them, although id sure be drunk! a little faint haze to this, a deeper color than is trendy right now, and a ton of hop character. pacific jade hops have been around awhile now, yet they are somehow still sort of new to me in terms of their complexion, are they expensive or hard to get? i feel like if this is how they taste, way more breweries should be using them because this beer tastes awesome! i get sliced pineapple and that preserved lemon thing i sometimes get in citra, along with cut pine and some of that northwestern high alpha pine complex as well, fresh as can be, highly dosed, and rightly bitter to balance off a rather sturdy but not too sweet crystal malt heap in the mash. smooth and fuller bodied, refreshing when ice cold and downright dynamic with the hops when it warms up a bit, more of the hop spiciness coming out. sticky like honey and sap, but still brisk as i drink it, fermented mostly dry but without any ale yeast flavor. a really well made beer with a great hop profile. more pacific jade centered beer needs to emerge...

This IPA, from a local Winston-Salem Brewery, is one of the best IPA's on the market in my opinion. The Taste is hoppy, slightly bitter but refreshing & it feels great on the tongue. Even though the ABV is slightly high, it does not have an overpowering flavor of alcohol and is very drinkable.

12 ounce bottle of Jade IPA cooled to about 55 F (Foothills brewing; 7.4% alcohol) drunk September, 2017. Deep amber body with moderate head and some lacing. Aroma not pronounced.

The main event for this ale is the flavor. It has a big, deep integrated hoppy flavor with a fine malt body. Extremely drinkable. There is no hint of the hefty alcohol in the flavor. This is a standout ale.

12 FL. OZ. bottle
Served in an IPA glass

This beer pours a hazy amber color with golden highlights. It is topped with an inch of tan head that never quite goes away leaving rings of lacing.

I smell citrus as soon as I crack it open. Once decanted I get the citrus as well as a healthy dose of bready malt.

It starts out with citrus. I get some malt through the middle and just when I think that it is evening out some pine kicks in the finish leaving a bitter aftertaste.

It has a smooth, creamy mouthfeel.

A solid IPA. I loved the mouthfeel.

Pours very clear like apple juice. I can't remember the last time I poured an IPA so clear. The nose is deep in thick hops as is the taste. This beer is crisp and clean with a very quick ending finish.

Strongly reminiscent of the Revolution brewery's take on West Coast IPA, this was a pleasant and drinkable beer, and one I would happily return to.

If there is a downside, the relatively high alcohol content means that you are limited on how many you can enjoy in a single sitting!

Ok, but I prefer Foothills' Hoppyum. Smooth and drinkable, but not my everyday IPA. I really don't see what the hype is all about. Would definately order again, but not if there were other options.

Poured from 12 oz. bottle into IPA glass. It pours a clear, golden-honey color with two fingers of foamy, milk-white head and generous lacing. It's very fragrant with melon, mango, tangerine, lemon, honey, sweet malt, and a whiff of pine. The taste is a delicious blend of sweet tropical fruit, sweet malt, moderately bitter hops. The tangerine and tropical fruit up front is tangy and it competes with the sweet honey. At first sip, the hops don't seem very bitter but I quickly noticed that they leave a decidedly bitter after taste. The flavors just work well together. This ale has a pleasing, almost silky mouth feel with lively carbonation, and the ABV of 7.4% gives it heft but doesn't overwhelm. It's so easy to drink! Overall, Jade is a well-balanced, delicious southern-style IPA. It deserves its world-class rating.

L: Very hazy, orangy opaque body, a thin white head, quite bubbly

S: Typical IPA smell, with more juicy orangy notes prevelent, hints of honey, reminds me of Alpha Hive

T: Taste replicates the smell and look. Very muddled beer with no distinct crisp flavors, too "juiced up" IMO. Big on the orange flavor.

F: Under carbonated for my liking, smooth though but not crisp

O: I don't know what it is but for some reason the hazier IPA's just don't really do it for me. I like something a little more crisp and with a bite. I enjoy other Foothills brews but this one just doesn't do it for me.

Pours a lightly hazy pale yellow color with a thumb sized white head that does lace well.

Aroma is dominated by tropical fruits mango, melon, tangerine some light sweetness from the malts. Fruity but not overly bitter smelling.

Taste is like the aroma but more intense nice and fruity tropical fruit notes with a citrus bitter backing over powering a bready/biscuit like malt sweetness. Finish also has hints of earthy like hops, just a tinge of spice.

Mouthfeel is medium with light carbonation, just enough CO2 without being over done.

Overall a pretty tasty IPA, kind of surprised I haven't reviewed it as I have had it before. Defiantly worth picking up.

Look - Clear, golden color with a one finger foam head. Fairly light carbonation

Smell - Sweet, hoppy scent. Not as strong in the hops as I would have expected, but very inviting.

Taste - Strong hops..kinda hits you in the face. Pineapple, grass, resinous hops. Great combination of flavors that don't overstay their welcome on the back end.

Feel - Much more syrupy than i would have expected. Tingly sensation from the high IBUs - one of the most long lasting hops sensations I've had from a beer.

Overall - great beer if you can handle the extreme hop profile.
