I have been excited to try this ever since it made its debut around 5 or 6 years ago. Finally got the opportunity at Raleigh Times in Raleigh, NC. Served on draft. Citrus orange hued with a perfect, stark white, foamy and fluffy head residing on top. Generous lacing with the head retention being outstanding.

Aroma is pure hop bliss. Full of citrus notes, mainly grapefruit and orange. Hints of lemon peel. Light toasted malts in the aromas as well.

Hop forward for sure, but also pretty damn balanced. Packs a bitter punch without giving one Keystone face. Hop flavor is awesome. Super fresh and fruity. Medium bodied. Clean finish. So easy to drink. As close as it gets to perfection in the style if you ask me.

Poured from a bomber into a pint glass. Golden in color with a fluffy white head, a good looking beer. Big fruity aroma. Well balanced. Bitter but drinkable. A bit of a peppery finish. High carbonation. Will drink this again. Cheers!

Yellow gold with a small head. Lovely orange and grapefruit with a slightly jasmine nose. Just the right amount of carbonation helps you taste the passion fruit and star fruit with a slight peppery finish. A great lack of malt and sweetness... West coast style. Well done foothills.

S-smell is of citrus and tropical fruits and light pale malts

T-taste is similar to the smell with citrus and tropical fruits but with a moderate amount of pine bitterness in the finish

M-medium body, soft carbonation

Overall a very good IPA, nice amount of tropical fruits and pine bitterness, very drinkable

Jade is a clear, effervescent gold beer that briefly sports a thin, slightly pebbly white head; lacing is fair and consists of slabs and ladders. The nose is big and bright: ruby red grapefruit is ascendant over more moderately-present cotton candy and juicy pineapple; slight alcohol overtones ride atop everything. The palate is big as well, leading with bitter pineapple; mid-palate, the spicy candy-like florals emerge, as does a significant citrus character, and some bready malt peeks around the edges. By the end, the bitterness has built to middling for the style. The finish is pretty clean, with just a bit of bittersweet candy-spice showing, and is dry with a good carbonation bite. The linger is a mild grassy bitterness that hangs on for quite awhile. Mouthfeel is biggish for the light body, and the texture is slightly creamy and peppery from the well-expressed carbonation. This is a solid NC IPA. (12 oz bottle, 27 days after pkg)

Drinkable for how high the ABV and IBUs are. I enjoyed the pepper taste with the Citrus. In all honesty it got better as a drank the bomber. Want more!

Bomber. Pours hazy gold, finger white head fades to lasting thin layer. Very floral aroma. Clean piney floral hops with a solid cracker malt backbone. Finishes with a touch of grass and sweetness. Medium slick mouthfeel. First try of this one and it did not disappoint.

Quite hazy golden color with moderate white head. Tastes like juicy, bitter grapefruit. Pine, citrus, some pineapple. Juicy, sticky feel with medium body. Finishes with light sweetness and a hoppy bitterness. Nice beer.

From a growler, pours a fairly clear light gold with greenish highlights. Puffy and thick 2-finger head leaves moderate lacing. Initial smell is citrus--grapefruit and a bit of orange--which in turn goes into a ripe melon and some kind of wild, spicy herb. Hint of sweaty socks. Almost verges into onion, but it's just enough to provide some pleasant savory smell.

Taste is citrus then ripe fruit, with a slightly piney, moderately dry and lingering finish with some of those spicy notes. Not much malt flavor. Body is medium and highly drinkable. Mild-moderate carbonation that works well.

This is an excellent IPA that I've had before and will have again.

Clear orange color with off-white head. Aroma has earthy, resiny hops and citrus fruits, mostly grapefruit. Taste starts with some citrusy sweetness and gets increasingly bitter towards the aftertaste. Body is medium with good carbonation. Really nice, well done IPA overall.

The beer has a clear light orange color. The aroma is floral, citrus, and light malt. The taste follows with citrus, tropical, light malt presence, and light bitterness.

Look: One finger head, nice golden appearance

Smell: Pine forest with some caramel/toffee in the background.

Taste: Piney hops, pineapple near the front, pine lingers for quite some time. Some malty sweetness around the middle.

Feel: Creamy mouthfeel, really interesting for an IPA. Super carbonated.

Overall: Well made beer, glad I tried it. Thanks George!

It has very pretty lacing and the color is golden orange.

The flavor was a bit different than I expected, and I think that's because of the malt finish. I do feel like it could be a little crisper with more pine. It also tasted a little sweet, but again, I think that's from the malt. Overall it tastes great and I would drink it again.

Fantastic solid IPA from Foothills - love the fruit and hops on the nose. I would drink this all the time if these guys would get their act together and start distributing to Florida.

L: Poured from a bottle to a pint glass. Had a golden yellow color and a clear texture. There was an inch of creamy head that lasted an average amount of time. Very good lacing.

S: A nice aroma of tropical fruit, hops, and some malt.

T: Tasted of a solid shot of hops, a light maltiness, citrus (orange, especially), and a mix of some tropical fruits (papaya). Definitely a balanced flavor, with the fruitiness giving way to the hops in the finish. Well rounded and lively.

F: A good amount of carbonation with a slick finish. Medium-bodied.

O: This is an extremely focused and easy to drink IPA. Not groundbreaking (what IPA is at this point?), but well worth trying.

32oz growler into a shaker pint.

A: Pours a clear straw/gold with 3/4" white head that recedes at a moderate pace. Retention & lacing are both very poor, at least in this glass.

S: Very little is detectable at first. Onion jumps out a bit as the head recedes, followed by a heavy dose of lemon rind & maybe a hint of...dare I say it?...garlic bread. It's altogether not bad.

T: Comes on with tropical fruit flavors, papaya, passionfruit & the like. The mid palate transitions smoothly into a more concise bitter hoppy character with subtle citrus framing around a doughy malt note. The finish echoes the bitterness along with a more pronounced onion note. Overall, not the most logical progression of flavor, but it all kind of works.

M: High-ish carb married to a medium body. Traces of soapiness, but mostly pretty slick. It fits very well with the flavors being offered here.

O: I like this brew quite a bit, although it has it's flaws. Appearance really takes away a lot from this one, along with a somewhat muddled nose. Altogether, however, it's pretty doggone solid.

Growler pour (drank same day):
Lovely pour - pale/yellow golden and nice sustaining fluffy white head (nucleated glass). Lacing is fairly significant.
Nose isn't much, initially - even a bit grainy. Eventually it opens up with some warmth to reveal some tropical notes. There's a light onion note that sneaks in also.

Taste is nice, clean tropical juicy notes to open. These slowly grow before dying in decent time, a light sticky and tingling ending that is actually kinda soft. Warmth brings in a piney note to join the tropical parts, but they seem layered decently well. The combination seems to teeter on that onion note from the smell, but never quite goes there.

The feel somehow ends up being somewhat watery to me, especially on a warmer beer that opens up the flavors. This makes it drinkable, but undermines my enjoyment a bit.

The flavors are decent, but the feel does end up affecting my overall enjoyment enough. Definitely drinkable and a solid offering. A little more body would increase two scores for me, though.

Bottle purchased at Bottlebox in Norfolk, VA.

This one pours a glowing golden yellow, slightly hazy but mostly clear, with a half inch head, and an absurd amount of sticky lacing.

This one smells like tangerine, mango, grapefruit, pine, grass, and perfume. There's a lot going on here.

This is one of the best IPAs that I've had lately. Up front, it's very floral and wonderful, with a huge citrus blast in the middle, juicy and fleshy- there's some tangerine, mango, and grapefruit in the middle here. The end finishes slightly bitter, and quite herbal, with a slightly peppery finish. If this is what Pacific Jade brings to the table, I like this hop a lot.

This is medium bodied, with a very juicy mouthfee, and a moderate level of carbonation.

An awesome IPA, really unique, especially in the finish, with how herbal and peppery this one was.

Poured from 22 oz bomber dated 7/15/2015 into snifter.

S: Bright citrus with grapefruit, peaches, and lemon zest. Some slight honey sweetness.

T: Ripe peaches, mango, and grapefruit. Light piney hops.

M: Medium body and average carbonation.

O: Very nice IPA. Highly recommended.

Pours a bright amber orange. Not much head, not much lacing. A sweet, juicy IPA. Got a lot of peach and mango character. When ratings IPAs, I do my best to pretend I've never had IPAs from the big New England breweries like Hill Farmstead, Trillium, and Lawson's. It just wouldn't be fair to compare. Keeping those beers out of my mind, this IPA is pretty much a slam dunk.

I found this to be good, but unremarkable. A bit too much malt presence on the back end--but the body and carbonation were in that IPA sweet spot. Surprised that this isn't a DIPA.

had on draft, Citrus smell and taste with peach as the most prominent note. Just the right balance with a smooth, moderately bitter finish. This ranks right up there with freak of nature as nc's best IPAs

This is a standard-bearer for southeastern IPAs - not so much in that it is necessarily the single best, but in that is incredibly well-crafted and delicious while being easy to come by.
L: gloriously glowing golden-orange color with two fingers of creamy, foamy white head with very good retention and incredible lacing - and when I say incredible, this was lacing that stuck and left a full sheet covering the glass - better than any beer I've had. Definition of a "5"
S: peaches and melon dominate, followed by slight grapefruit, orange, and pine notes with a bright lemony finish; delicious.
T: closely follows the smell, with many of the same notes. A distinctly tropical flavor afforded only by pacific Jade; complemented nicely by the orange of Citra. Melon and white pepper show up in fresher bottles! Not an overpowering flavor, but very well balanced. Light bitterness with a little honey sweetness from the malt bill. Very good.
F: well-carbonated with a medium-light mouthfeel that accentuates the light, tropical flavor.
O: if I were a new brewer looking to make a name for myself, I would try to make a beer exactly like this. What an impressive beer. I've heard there is some inconsistency between batches, but I damn sure got a good one. (Edit: all have been outstanding; fresh batches are some of the best IPAs out there)
